Arvitis drops the lever and the beam he was shifting falls back into the water, then he helps Jezebel pull the man up on the boards above the waterline.

Yes, there is a knife sneathed on the man's belt. There is a tear in the man's pants leg and he is obviously bleeding, but the blood isn't spurting out.
