Ricardo shakes his head. "He's the damned chief engineer, Jac, odds
are he already knows she's aboard, just because of the life support
readings. I'll sound him out..."

Mark!! We needed to get a Richelieu-ish "get out of jail free" note
for Lessa from Mazie before we left.

Ricardo catches Del in a quiet moment in the Engineering spaces.

"Del, remember you told me about that little girl on your last
flight, seemed very un-Hooter like?"

"Well, in fact she wasn't. She'd been kidnapped on Mark to use as
leverage against her mother who was in possession of some rather
incriminating documents.

"Well, that whole bit of excitement the other night, ships blasting
off unexpectedly, racing across the planet, firefights that no one
admits to having..." Ricardo shrugs, "Well that was all decoy for an
extraction: to wit, one little girl, to be reunited with her mother,
which she was, quite happily."

Ricardo sighs, and continues.

"And, as events would have it, the mother is, well, sort of kind of
wanted at the moment, for a variety of crimes. She was framed, there
is proof of it and in the hands of the *right* authorities on Mark,
but to the outside world she's still in trouble with the law, because
it's all tangled up in some rather nasty on and off-world plotting
against the government."

"With me so far?"
