997.291: Jump to Newton

The week in jump passes without incident. The passengers stay mostly
to themselves and the crew is pretty busy with the modifications
that Ricardo wants made. Even the unskilled are pressed into work
as helpers supervised by those with some engineering or mechanical
skill on the modifications to the cargo hold, while Del works on
constructing a collapsible fuel tank.

As the week nears its completion you have made a good start, but
still have a ways to go. Del, Mira, and Ukanav will be kept busy the
entire stay at Newton finishing off the modifications to the cargo
hold. Del will need materials purchased on Newton and the next jump
to finish the collapsible fuel tank.

Woof, Jac and Ricardo will be busy on Newton looking for cargo to
buy and sell. If they are making the jump to Leuet before Montrose
they will be looking for cargo that sells well on an Agricultural world.

Lysia and Cory have the job to do the purchasing for the people on
the ship...specifically Lessa and Rachel...to minimize their
exposure on Newton.

Jac keeps reminding Woof and Ricardo...and everyone else...that
Newton's laws are very strict, harsh, and seem arbitrary to
outsiders. He also reminds everyone that bribery seems to be a
standard feature of the Newtonian social culture, so don't be
surprised or offended if you have to slip money under the table to
*anyone* in order to get *anything* done. He also suggests that you
let those who have some experience at this sort of thing do the
bribing because a clumsy attempt is just as likely to offend the
official as be accepted.

OOC: Any last activities, questions, or comments from anyone before
the ship emerges in the Newton system?
