Desdaemona looks up from her data pad with a tired expression.
"I wants see you."
He gives a little shrug, palms upward. "Here I am. What
can I do for you?"
She hands him the data pad, "You wants list of
structural weakspots, I make like you ask."
"You got question?"
He looks them over. Long list or short one?
"Desdaemona, this is great. What should be the priority
for securing these? And which ones are really important?
Reverse those. Which ones are really important, and
which ones should we focus on?"
"Is four bulkheads allow easy access between crew
compartment cargo hold and engineering any idiot with big
feets or small gun can punch thems out and bypass all iris
valves." Desdaemona indicates the bulkheads in question,
"Is easy fix, simple cross bracing here and here."
Simple, and not expensive, but will keep two people busy for a
week to implement. You can buy bracing and plating at any
Class B or A starport.
"Computer routings from Engineering go straight up middle
of hall through access cover under floor over there. Is
easy to isolate fore from aft through there. Is easy
bypass to run secondary data lines through conduit on
portside under popsicle stand."
Also simple and can be done with available equipments and
stores. It will take 10 work days to get done though...that's
10 days for one person, 5 days for two, or 3 days for three or
more people.
Desdaemona thumbs the pad and flips to an exterior view.
"This is worst, idiot who design this paint big strip
around the hull which pretty much point out spinal seam,
but you see here just port of spinal seam and aft of
stripe? Is main power junction on shot and you loose power
to turrets and bridge."
"We just repaint stripe further aft and shots go through
into cargo hold."
This will have to be done on planet and you'll have to buy
paint as all you have aboard is enough to do "touch ups" on
minor repairs, not repainting large areas.
Sasha needs to give Des some orders here.
He hands the list back to her. "Tell you what. Let's get the materials
that we need next planetfall, if they have them, and then we can start
working on it as we travel. Looks like we're pretty good for now, and just
have to be on guard. But then we always should be on guard against those
that would perpetrate wickedness on our bodies, eh? You take charge of
that, and get the cash from Paris to make it happen."
