Did you just get Tornado'd down there in Pensicola? I'm looking at the
CNN site and hope things are okay at your place.
Well, the area got tornadoed, but I didn't even know it went
through until later. I was in class when it went through, then
in my office. About 1 pm I got a call from my Mom asking me if
I was alright..."Huh? Why shouldn't I be?" I replied. Turns
out the college was shut down at 11 am and nobody remembered
to tell me (or a lot of other folks as it turns out) about it.
I recall I stepped out of my office into the hall to look
out the windows about the time the tornado went past because
it sounded like "the bottom had just falling out"...so to
speak, and yes it was raining hard, I shrugged, turned around,
went back into my office happy I didn't have to get out in all
that rain.
So, when I get home later this afternoon...the email from the
Admin closed the college, but said the faculty would work
their regular hours, unless there was "an emergency"...I find
out the tornado did a *lot* of damage, and in a path that took
it pretty close to where I was, too. However, no one was
killed...I don't think...and that's what's most important.
Still a *lot* of thunderstorms and nasty weather down here,
probably will continue until tomorrow. It's from what would
have turned into a hurricane out in the gulf. The system down
there got caught up in the front and from the time lapse it
looked like it literally unrolled the swirl and fed it right
up the line of the cold front.
