? A world which has banned technology, esp. bionic applications, due to violent explosions of 'psybersycosis' (aka Cyberpunk) and now adopts a technophobic attitude for pragmatic and political reasons rather than the usual religious ones. It's tempting to say poor in all areas due to their lack of tech. but I think the situation would probably be a lot more interesting if the regressionists were sitting on top of a proverbial gold mine which they refuse to exploit. > > > History > > > > --What did your society do during the rise of the Hegemony? Huge divisions over dealing with outsiders and new technologies. The current single largest factions are 1) Full Regressionists--those who would throw off all technology including FTL 2) Moderate Regressionists--those who resist all technology but will accept those advances which are "non-threatening" such as agriculture, travel, and communication. 3) Liberal Regressionists--those who are still opposed to uncheck technology but will even go so far as to allow medical research even though it could be used for weapons. 4) Hawks --those who oppose the traditional bans on technology. These individuals are frequently "persuaded" to resettle outside of Regressionist space. > > > > --Does your society have any areas (technological developments or > > > > skills) where it's better or worse then the average of Human space? Very poor tech. Solid economic infrastructure on the small scale. > > > > --Is there any special emphasis towards or away from the military? On the whole, Regressionists are pasafistic. > > > > --Do they have any special relation with Psionics? Mass hatred, > > > > promoted in the gene pool, etc. Due to a limited gene pool one would expect low Psi but this is not the case. Regressionist psi is higher and stronger than human norm--an occurance they attribute to their lack of technological dependance but which most outsider scholars attribute to a high tolerance for in-breeding. > > > > --Are there any setup effecting aspects of your society I haven't > asked about? Nope. Other than the psi thing, it should be noted that the Regressionist do have a very low level of internal crime and conflict and thereby maintain their passive resistance to technology at least partially due to the fact that it appears to work. They are also unusually resilient people with low disease rates, infant mortality, and death tolls despite their rather limited medical technology. ---------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, send mail to celandra-off@phoenyx.net.
