Below is my vision of the current state of events on the Razanian Coasts.
Barring any concerns of the GM or impacted players, I will be using this
to base this yerar's actions off of.
Aryisa
The political situation in Aryisa at the moment is, to put it simply,
complicated. The Crusader Grand Council, headed by the ambitious Duke
Iyan, is still firmly in control of the northern and central portions of
the country. Regent Alvar III is to all intents and purposes still a
figurehead, and practiacally under house arrest. However, many of the
nobles have become disatisfied with the current regime, and rumors of an
impending coup are spreading.
The Timber Veil has been repaired and extended to cover all of Aryisa's
borders north of the Nostan River. The countryside is slowly recovering
from the scars of war, though the occasional burnt out keep or hamlet
can be found in all parts of Aryisa.
South of the Nostan River is another story. This region is controlled by
the Asagmari Front, believed to be headed by the vanished Guardian leader
Duke Danan. Haran is officially governed by a Provisional Council, but
it is obvious that they are mere puppets. A sizeable force has been
raised by the Front, and the majority of Aryisa's army is positioned on
the north side of the Nostan River, in case the Front moves north.
The Asagmari Front has made it its mission to reclaim the teritories
surrendered by the Crusaders in the peace treaties, and raids back and
forth the Haran River are common, though both the Front and Saragor claim
the other started the conflict.
The Razanian Front, on the other hand, is for the most part no longer a
concern in both portions of Aryisa. After the reversals it suffered at
the hands of its Asagmari counterpart at the end of the war, it struggled
to reform, but deprived of official report from the free kingdoms by the
peace treaties and with its numbers severely depleted by years of
insurrection it had been reduced to a mere bit player for years to come.
The Razanian Kingdoms
With most of the war fought on Aryisan territory, the free kingdoms were
left relatively unscarred. However, the Century Council has proven
fragmented and ineffective in uniting the kingdoms without an immediate
common foe. Unable to resolve either border disputes between Narton and
Karan in the newly recovered territories on the west bank of the Razan
River or the ongoing conflict between Saragor and the Asagmari front, it
is doubtful that it will survive much longer.
As mentioned above, the newly extended border between Narton and Karan is
disputed, and rumors of impending war between the two states are
spreading up and down the Razanian Coast. Saragor is under attack from
the Asagmari Front and is launching its own reprisal raids. In Canor,
where King Huss II died in Aryisan captivity during the occupation,
various nobles have claimed the throne, and despite efforts by the
neighboring states to resolve the issue diplomatically, it is feared
civil war may break out. It is believed that King Albigens III of Tesh
will press his own claim if war breaks out, a move that might spark
intervention by Taranta and Taran to prevent Tesh from growing too
strong.
In more peaceful news, both Lord Jehan of Taran and Lord Chosoen of
Taranta have chosen the same person- Prince Regan, who became a hero in
the recent war- as their heir, a move that will likely lead to the
reunification of the old Kingdom of Taranta.
