Michael,
I definitely guessed at some of the numbers, as always if you feel
any need changing please do not hesitate.

King Villard is immensely proud and grateful for his people, all of
those who saved hm and helped him to uncover the assassins, plotters and
their network. There are as yet several unanswered questions about why
this assassin was attempted. And Villard decides that perhaps one of
the better ways to determine some of the answers might be to turn the
tables on his assassins and their network that they might be made to
serve him. Instead of revealing all of the assassins or parts of the
network he works with his people, military, and magic to monitor and
subvert some of the enemies. This potentially gives him access to an
already established network that also has spies in his country and
others of his neighbors and other parts of the world. Some parts of the
network might be further revealed so that some of his new double agents
can be promoted to higher levels and giving him even further information
or influence or perhaps information can be fed to parts of the network
that was left intact and monitored to influence what they know and how
they might respond.
Very Hard -2
Triple Action +2 (probably will use coulbe actions in subequent years
such as yr. 4 & 5)
5 yr action +?
the extraordinary success from finding the assassins) +?
Villards influence/authority +2
the threat to the possible double agents of being revealed to the King
of Taltheran or their brethern and their possible fate +2
magic skills of the Brotherhood (the mages) in controlling, influencing
&.or monitoring double agents +3
reluctance of the some of the turned to cooperate or possible triple
agents -2
Action 4 - Trade Concessions and Establshing Facilities
The Opheir (head of the Brotherhood)In exchange for making King Agrigax
aware of the problems with his country, the actions of his Merchants
Guild and for keeping the assassination attempt relatively quiet, King
Villard asks for some strong trade concessions on many goods they import
and export. King Agrigax should grant some of them since it will also
hurt some of the Merchants who are trying to limit his influence.
Villards Council also asks for the granting of lands in several ports
and towns for the establishment of warehouses and other facilities for
trade. Concessions are also asked about the loosening the restrictions
of the Wizards Guild on magic use for at least Burcancy (the
Brotherhood) mages & the establishment of a Brotherhood mage school and
tower in the Taltheran capital and ccess to their libraries. This
potentially could help loosen the stranglehood of the Guild over this
aspect of life in Taltheran and give Agrigax more of a free hand. In a
bold gesture, Villard sends his Queen to handle the negotiations. Her
competence, bravery and diplomacy is beyond question and saying no to
her will prove difficult for Agrigax. And Villard's revelations about
the assassin network and his informants should help reveal any plots.
Her Highness, Queen Felicia is accompanied by a suitable number of
advisors, military, mages and nobles. and the Duke of Unster, Felicia's
father are asked to accompany her to protect and add weight to the
requests for concessions and land grants.
The Opheir travels with them to protect the Queen. Felicia and Villard
are probably the greatest rulers the Brucancy and the Brotherhood has
ever seen. Also the desire to lessen the magical restrictions around
them and be more open about some of the things they practice would be a
great boon. Although, the Wizard's power is my no means nearly as
strong as the Brotherhood (surpassed on this continent only by Mir) it
would allow the Burcancy mages the ability to thumb their noses at the
Guild. Also, the Opheir wishes to encourage his King to take the
continued development
of Weather Mages (the Burcancy Battle Mages) off the back burner since
the assassination attempt and provide more resources for their training.
Difficulty (hard - very hard)
The influence of the Burcancy Royals (Villard/Felicia & the Duke) & the
Opheir - +2-3
The embarassment of the assassination attempt in diplomatic circles
(Merchants +2/ King +2)
the desire of King Agrigax to weaken some of the influence of the
Merchants &/or Wizards Guild +2
resistance of the Merchants & Wizards to the concessions (Merchants -2/
Wizards -3)
success of last turn's unveiling of the plot +?
sucess from this turn's subversion of the assassins and their network+?
Action 5 - Sending Aid, Assistance and Trade
Continuation of aid to the Burcancy's neighbors and allies. Aid,
assistance and trade will be sent to Paraglur, Tanimbar and the Vieisia
(sorry Michael I forgot the name of the part of Celephar I am supporting
and I currently can not access my old actions) And continued trade w/
Mir. Villard's desire is to continue to deepen and strengthen relations
with his neighbors and allies and to eventually get them all to join the
Alliance. (only Vieisia has signed on to date, I believe). Much of the
trade to Paraglur goes through Count Younness lands and he profits from
it. Some of it legally and some of it illegally, in either case the
trade supports his other endeavors such as the overthrow of Villard.
And although, Villard has traced some of Younness illegal activities he
is not aware of their full extent even as suspicions abound.
Extra action -1
Good relations w/ all these neighbors and allies+1
Royal marrriages in Parglur, Tanimbar & Mir +1
Desire for all merchants of these lands for continued profit +1
Parliament support (many members are increasing their coffers through
trade) +1
Suppport of Count Younness +1
>Count Youness Considers an action but decides this year discretion is more appropriate and does nothing. Perhaps he is learning and growing more dangerous.
