As the months of negotiations wear on, more and more neutral nobles rally
to the Crusader banner. When one of his strongest supporters abandons
him to back the apparent winning horse, a desperate Alvar III launches an
assualt on the city of Aryisa. With few defenders, the populace decides
to open the gates to him, but his army, such as it is, engages in
extensive looting and turns the populace against him.

Both the Crusader and Guardian armies march to relieve the city, and
after heated negotiations, agree to cooperate in evicting the Regent.
Though the outer walls fall quickly to the allied force, Alvar's soldiers
engage them in weeks of brutal street to street fighting. Ultimately,
with the help of the city's populace, the allied army storms the Regent's
palace and captures Alvar III.

The Crusader Grand Council meets, with a number of Guardian
representitives also joining the discussion. Shortly thereafter, Alvar
III is executed on the steps of the Hall of the Grand Council.

After many long debates, Duke Danan agrees to terms from Duke Iyan to
avoid a civil war. Danan himself will be exiled to Aixelsyban, with his
son Ranir inheriting his estates. The Guardians will not be tried for
treason, and some Guardians will be admitted to the Grand Council once
again, but still leaving a solid Crusader majority.

On the New Year, Danan leaves Aryisa, leaving Duke Iyan as the
unchallenged ruler.
