To help in choosing appropriate densities I thought I'd mention a few modern numbers. These numbers are taken from the CIA Factbook at http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/ (Densities are in population per square mile) Japan @ 873 United Kingdom @ 638 France @ 286 Mexico @ 138 South Africa @ 91 United States @ 79 Brazil @ 56 New Zealand @ 38 Australia @ 7 A rough idea of appropriate population densities in the middle ages can be gained by dividing the above figures by 100, as the world population has increased by approximately that value over that time. Now, I am not saying that Qaiyore is not underpopulated, but people should consider very carefully before adopting even a population density of 30 per square mile.
