The Cedonian calendar is closely tied to their religion. Each month is named after or associated with a particular god or goddess, and the association of god to month is symbolic. All months are 30 days in length. The calendar year begins with 1st Winter Solstice, or Year's Long Night, which does not belong to any month. Being as it is the death of the old year and the birth of the new, Winter Solstice is sacred to Coron, God of Birth, Death, and Transition. The next six months are: Lusmonth, named for Lucia, Goddess of Light, Justice, and the Sun. Windsmonth, named for the Lady of the Wind, the Elder Goddess of Air Marmsmonth, named for King Marmdal, God of Storms. Cedsmonth, named for Cedon, God of Rivers, Roads, and Merchants. Seamonth, named for the Lord of the Sea, the Elder God of Water. Arrumonth, named for Arrumantha, Goddess of Agriculture. After Arrumonth comes the three days of Summer Solstice, which do not belong to any month. The days of 1st and 3rd Summer Solstice are sacred to Kaskasoevin, the God of Life and Pleasure, but the day of 2nd Summer Solstice, or Year's Long Day, is sacred to Coron. When a leap day is necessary, it is inserted as 4th Summer Solstice, and is sacred to Kaskasoevin. The next six months are: Arlomonth, named for Arlova, Goddess of Healing. Stonesmonth, named for the Lady of Stone, the Elder Goddess of Earth. Torrmonth, named for Torronir, God of Smiths and Crafters. Mithmonth, named for Mithrak, God of War. Flamemonth, named for the Lord of Flames, the Elder God of Fire. Demsmonth, named for Demerhaze, Goddess of Night and Vengeance After Demsmonth comes 2nd Winter Solstice, the last day of the year, which stands outside the months. Like 1st Winter Solstice, it is sacred to Coron. The Cedonian year is divided up into four seasons thusly: Winter: Demsmonth, Lusmonth and Windsmonth. Spring: Marmsmonth, Cedsmonth, and Seasmonth. Summer: Arrumonth, Arlomonth, and Stonesmonth. Autumn: Torrmonth, Mithmonth, and Flamemonth. Thus, a Cedonian would say that the year 1447 would start on 1st Winter Solstice, 1447, and would end on 2nd Winter Solstice, 1447. From the pespective of someone from Elyria, or the Northern hemisphere of Earth, the Cedonians start their year around the end of June. As far as the days of the week go, the Cedonians use a seven-day week. The days are simply named Oneday, Twoday, etc. Regular religious services are usually held on Sevenday. While the Solstice-days do not belong to any month, they *do* belong to the weeks. This means that the day of the week that a given date falls on changes every year in a 28-year cycle.
