Celandra is a game in which the players take the roles of societies, rather than playing individual characters. The players will invent a society with its culture and heritage, and will guide its development and interaction with the world. Emphasis will be be placed on developing a detailed history of Celandra, along with myths and legends.

The technology level is roughly pre-rennaisance. Metalwork is slightly
retarded, trade and shipbuilding are advanced, and gunpowder does not
exist. Magic exists in two essential forms; essence (magecraft) and
authority (priestcraft), and in a multitude of styles.

Start by going to
http://members.tripod.com/~kimril/qaiyore/society_index2.html and
checking out the "Free Cities," "Cormenaera," "Avatar," and "Damaris"
links. You might also check out "Zelkor." (Cormenaera is definitely
_not_ small though.)

Most player societies are currently in the north, so choosing a city
like Anacir or Anaduan will likely give more interactions with the other
players. Avatar, Damaris, and Zelkor have the advantage of being
developed, and so will require less work to get you started. My religion
(Exquaestio) has been working to make Junder a political region
independent of the Free Cities. If you'ld like we could cooperate on
building its history, description, and determinants.

(You might also note that Qaiyore is in the southern hemisphere, so it gets
colder the farther _south_ you go.)
