Since we've grown quite in the absence of our GM, why not continue with the earlier idea of adding to the description of a different society each turn? My suggestion: Aixelsydan. Aixelsydan used to be a fairly active society in the 1410s, but grew quiet after the loss of connections with Elyria, probably because of the devastation it suffered from the tidal waves and the subsequent loss of infrastructure. The Aixelsydanese speak a River Valley language, a variety of Ancient Avaerean. The major efforts in the past by Aixelsydan were: The Earthen Veil – a series of fortifications in the Aixelsydanese holdings to the south of the Strait, holding the territory against Orasareni retaliation. Control and development of the Straits of Anorurr through construction of a sea maze and underwater chains à the Straits Channels. Occupation of the Rhudyn colonies on the southern shore of the Strait, integrating the local Orasareni into Aixelsydan. Originally possessed strong navy, till 1405 floods destroyed coastline and fleets. Aixelsydan a militaristic society, have gone to war with many of its neighbours – the Ban Horroth, the Razanians, Ariysa, Rhudyn. My suggestion: The destruction of the archipelago linking Qaiyore to Elyria, and the tidal wave that followed, devastated Aixelsydan. Aixelsydan’s efforts to develop control over the Straits, and its great fleet, are destroyed. The trade it enjoys thanks to its ships is ruined, and the economy breaks down. The Aixelsydanese Republic collapses in the wake of the economy. In the chaos that follows, the Aixelsydanese military forces in the colonies on the southern shore of the Strait hold together, the Aixelsydanese Colonial Military Command becoming the government of southern Aixelsydan under the direct leadership of the Governor. In the Aixelsydanese homeland on the northern shore of the Straits, the vacuum is filled by the major Aixelsydanese cities, developing into a handful of rival city-states. Each city-state is generally controlled by a particular House or Mountain Lord. In recent years, trade begins to develop but little happens in terms of political development. The rivalry of the city-states, each claiming to be a representative of the old Order, prevents unity developing in northern Aixelsydan. Meanwhile, on the southern shore, the Military Command has strengthened and developed its position, its economy growing. ---- thoughts?
