I've been trying to think of some Celandran proverbs/words of wisdom that won't sound exactly like English aphorisms. So far, I've come up with: "There is nothing more difficult than doing nothing." --Emperor Bucerad I of Sedonia "Princes have short memories." "Never interfere with a bear's den or a woman's kitchen." "Better to face Justice in this world than Vengeance in the next." "The loudest voice is soonest answered." "Anyone can talk to the gods. When the gods talk to you, start worrying." --Primate Tomas XI Ronirros "No one ever needs an excuse to be happy." --First Archprelate of Cascasoevin "The Emperor and the peasant must both face the Gods." "Paying the doctor today saves paying the sexton tomorrow." "You can trust an Emperor as you can trust a shark." --Emperor Bucerad I of Sedonia "No human ever knows the." The last one doesn't translate real well, because Sedonian doesn't have a single word for "truth". There are words for , , , , , and . A similar situation exists with the word "false". Anyway, anybody have any other ideas for proverbs or sayings? Andrew ---------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, send mail to celandra-off@phoenyx.net.
