Looking at the events for this turn, it struck me that it might be useful to treat the Videssian response to the Ice Demon attack as a sort of NPC action. The Videssians can probably scrape up 8,000 to 10,000 men, and even though the glory days of the Republic are long gone, the quality of the troops should be, on average, Fair. Morale is, on balance, probably Fair, but the soldiers would be defending their homeland, so call it Good. Unfortunately, we don't know the Size of the Ice Demon invaders, but if they are attacking "in hordes" that suggests, to me, anyway, at least 20,000, although if Videssia is the main point of attack for the horde, the number could be greater by an order of magnitude or more, 100,000 to 200,000. Base Force quality is most likely Fair, since the horde invading Videssia probably hasn't been in combat before, but for the moment the Force quality is Good, since the Ice Demons achieved surprise. Morale for the Ice Demons is probably Fair. So, this gives the Videssians a Battle Value of: Force (0) + Size (0) + Morale (1) = 1 And the Ice Demons have a Battle Value in the range of: Force (1) + Size (1 to 4) + Morale (0) = 2 to 5 The exact value is up to Juuso, since at the moment, he's the only one who really knows the Ice Demons' size & intentions. The Videssians are, as they say, in a pickle. The calculation for determining the winner of a campaign is: (Videss BV + Dice) - (IceD BV + Dice) = Relative Difference A positive number is a Videssian victory; a negative number is an Ice Demon victory. If the Ice Demons are in a horde(size 3 or better), any Videssian victory will probably be Pyrrhic.
