I can't claim any credit for this. I just went through the "Eerith Chronicles" that M. Keaton wrote, and pulled out the nursery-rhyme bits and put them together so that you can see the whole thing in one place. Strictly speaking, I suppose, it should be called Lorgenes' Alphabet, but what the heck. I have to say that M. Keaton's mind works in slightly odd and obscure ways. :) Andrew A is for Apathy, the opposite of love. B is for Broken, the price of the strong. C is for Courage. D is for Duty; the main cause of death. E is for Eternal; the duration of the war. F is for Fire; the universe's blood. G is for Greatness, a burden to be borne. H is for Honor, which needs no explanation. I is for Integrity, the act of being oneself. J is for Justice, that which cannot be denied. K is for Knell, the omen of the passing. L is for Love, an action of judgment M is for Mercy, a pity weaker than grace. N is for Nothing. O is for Only, the law of mutual exclusions. P is for Perfection, an immortal goal. Q is for the Quick, who outran the dead. R is for Rest, death's reward for the good. S is for Silence, the loudest of sounds. T is for Time, weaver of all. U is for Useful, the greatest of accolades. V is for Valor, a virtue modeled within our time. W is for War, a state of being and not an event. X is for Xeroma, the priesthood's stare. Y is for Yesterday, the time that never was. Z is for Zeitgeist, who we are, who we will be. Through spectrum and through sound, The feeling and the smell, All the senses bound into a common tongue-- One people of one mind become again One being among many. By the language bind them, And by the language, Set them free. Selah. ---------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, send mail to celandra-off@phoenyx.net.
