[Cel] an overview of rhudyns history

Before the age of socery the the people of Rhudyn were those whom had left
the land of the free cities and sought to escape the ever constant battle
for power. In this land they were very much a sea trading people and a
farming people. Following the river wich became know as the Ri'Semaida they
reached the mountains and found an intrigiung culture of nomadic magi that
lived closley with the elements and nature. The people soon learned that a
strange and sacred power was in the mountains and they knew that if all else
fails, the mountains would keep them safe. Soon they began to work together
with the nomadic mountain tribes and share knowledge and created Rhudyn, a
land of free choice. the tribes began to establish small villages in the
mountains but were very hard to find and not well known. When Mir came the
land was still much to disorganized to even put up a fight and fell without
a blow from Mirish forces. During the Mirish rule however the local
governments were left in tact and the people quickly learned from their
conqurers. They picked up on all of the advanced technology that Mir had
over their own. They also respected magic from their enconters with the
nomadic tribes and studied as much as Mir would allow encorparating it into
their ways and picking up on some of their religion. Rhudyn gained favor in
Mir's eye and some were tuaght by the Magi and eventually a few Magi began
to stay in Rhudyn more often than Mir. With this the people began to show
these few magi the secrets of the mountains, in return the magi tuaght some
of the tribes people how to manipulate nature and the elements even more
with their greater powers. After interbreeding it was discovered that the
children had been granted a strong magic that gave them the ability to
manipulate things very easily, not only could they control fire and wind but
they could manipulate the earth to form in the way that they wished. They
tribes denounced their sepratanism and formed bounds with the local
goverment and higher Mirish law thinking that this was a sighn from the
Gods. A mage tower was built where the mountains open and give birth to the
Ri'Semaida. This tower was a symbol of the quest of the Rhudian to learn
and progress through out time. In this tower a council was formed, the
council of light is what it was named. This council answered to the high
council in Mir and strove to help the progress in Rhudyn.
At the fall of the Mirish empire Mir left Rhudyn in a state of growth, they
people had become depedent on their own national economy, they hade
developed defined provinces that the nobels would oversee local problems,
there was a strong tie and appreciation for magic within the land, and they
had some roads and cities and villiges eastablished in key points. The
light council ruled for a time, some were from Mir others were the offspring
of the Mir and native mag, others were from the original magi of the land.
When Sedonia came the Rhudyn fought despratly for their newfound freedom.
With a calvary of Raken, battle mages, a small naval fleet, and many foot
soldiers they thought they could resist the power of Sedonia. All attempts
were useless and the light council with the remaining mages were forced to
go into the mountains and live in caves that thethat were magicaly altered
for protection. They began to build many underground havens with their
powers, the mountains became a home for the patriots. Here some countinued
to teach the ways of the warmage believing that one day they could fight off
the Sedinian rule, others continued the art of the clergy and healing, some
began to develop more of the raw elemental power that was used to form the
caves. They soon learned how to hide the entrance to any eye not of their
kind, thus they survived the Sedonian age. The ordinary people who lived
through the originall battle for Rhudyn knew where the mages stayed and
would make pilgrimages to the mountains to visit the magi.
When word of the fall of the Cedonian capital, due to the ice
demons, the people of Ruhdyn knew that it was their chance to take back
their country. Rhudyn drove out the remaining legions and began to
reestablish their country. The Light council was quickly reinstated, local
leaders were elected by the people to judge on simple matters, the noble
families picked up the charge of the bueracracy and a king was chosen by the
council and the noble elders. The magi quickly went to work on rebuilding
the fallen tower and helping the people with crops by manipulating the land
for even feilds and irrigation waterways. For a little over 200 years
Rhudyn has pressed on with this government and has seen prosperity, the
exception being the war with Ax. in wich Rhudyn lost land. With the
completion of the third ice demon invasion Rhudyn is continuing to grow and
prosper.
