[Cel] the scale

The Scale of honor, a magical gift that was given to the first ruler of
Rhudyn long ago. As the King slept the Goddess of magic sent him a vision
in which he saw justice and righteous rule spreading across his land like a
fire. It was if his body was being lifted into the air by an invisible arm
as he began to fly over the land and where he passed peace followed, people
bowed down in his presence and acknowledged him as their liege. "Why" he
whispered, "How" he yelled aloud. Then a voice rose from the depths of the
Ri'Semaida, "with my gift that lies in these waters the sun shall shine upon
your fair land, hope and joy shall prevail through the rule of the kings who
wield this". As she spoke a golden light began to emanate from the depths
of the mountain spring feed river and a gold scale appeared. "Honor shall
these scale bring to all the kings who wield them for unjust can not be
wrought in their presence unless all others in sight shall be aware of the
unrighteous judgment. Of old it rested in a great temple that was built by
your ancestors in these mountains, this I have preserved for you and this
land, find this scale and you find unity."

The King awoke with a fever and immediately departed for the old city of
Ota'Rriej to consult with the Light Council about this dream. The rest my
son is history, after arrival the council agreed that it was a vision from
Miracradsa (as she was know after Mirrish rule) the goddess of Magic. He
then went to the Ri'Semaida and searched for weeks until finally he had
given up. He had set a time for departure the next day. That night he sat
on the river bank pondering and he saw a slight flicker of light from the
depths, intrigued he watched as the light began to grow stronger,
overwhelmed he jumped into her icy depths and pulled up a small chest that
held the scales from his vision. The scales will tip to either side when
the king makes a final decision and it is always in view for every one in
the room to see if the judgment is right or not. It has been passed down
from king to king a continual check against any temptations of wrongful use
of his power. That son is why we trust or king, he wont lie to or cheat his
people, it is said that after a time somehow the scale will show his
judgments righteousness even when he is not in its presence.

But father how can that be?
Only the king knows son, it is his burden to bear. Now good night boy, good
night.
