We have considered your words, and find them full of wisdom for one of
your years. More sober consideration has shown Us that, indeed, you are
correct in saying that allowing the Tanimbari convoy through to Zelkor
can do nothing to change the ultimate fate of the city. We will accept
your guarantee as to the convoy's intentions, and allow the Tanimbari to
bring food to Zelkor and remove refugees as a humanitarian gesture.
However, one convoy of supplies is as far as Our mercy extends; let that
be understood.
In addition, under the terms of the treaty we signed with your
grandfather, King Villard, your late uncle, Lothair, was to have
inherited the title of Prince of Vizinia, swearing fealty to us as a
vassal. Under Sedonian law, since your uncles Ranulf and Lothair and
their descendants are dead, you are the next in line for that title.
However, your swearing fealty to Us would create an impossible political
situation, and therefore we suggest that you either renounce the title
and let it pass to one of your younger brothers; or that you let the
title of Prince of Vizinia remain in abeyance until such time as you
have children, at which juncture it would pass to a younger son, not in
line for the thrones of Burcancy and Mir.
