[Cel] Marcus' Dream

King Victor Atherlari sat in his office, reading a report on the progress of the troops moving back to the Goblin front. "Your Majesty", a voice said respectfully. King Victor lifted his head gratefully from the report, viewing his stewart. "Yes, Edwin, what is it?"
"First Minister Marcus Merari wishes to speak with you, sir."
"Of course, send him in." Putting down the report, King Victor straightened in his chair. The First Minister walked in, bowed, and said "Your Majesty, sorry to distrupt your duties but I must speak with you."
"Always so formal, my friend. Haven't we known each other long enough to be past this?" King Victor asks.
"Formailty reminds us of our stations, Majesty. Even here it is nesscessary." answered the First Minister
"Very well, Minister Marcus. What do you need to discuss?"
"As you know, your Majesty, I am quite old. I have decided to retire. My son, Timothy, will be taking over my duties. As you have no doubt noticed, I have been including him in my duties as my seceraty, giving him instruction. He will do well."
King Victor leaned back in his chair, "Yes, I believe he will. But this hardly constitutes a personal visit. What else is on your mind?."
"Torphan, Your Majesty" Marcus says, "Torphan. I wish to have one last assignment. I wish to open a dialouge and establish an embassy in Torphan."
"Really? Why do you wish this?"
"I have always dreamed of visiting Torphan. Why do they keep to themselves so much? They control a large portion of the continent. I have studied as much information about them as I could get. If we could open trade with them, our economy would greatly benefit. We could be the link for trade with them for the entire Midsea."
King Victor thought of this for a moment, nodding, "That would be a good thing. How do you plan on contacting them?"
"I will first go to Mir, and communicate with the Torphan ambassador there. From there, an trip into Torphan itself."
"Well, First Minister, you have my support. I don't have any doubts that you will get the support of the Council as well. Their always wanting new sources of trade."
"Thank you, Your Majesty. I knew I could count on you. I pray that the Gods will favor my venture."
