Hi. I just picked up a copy of the FUDGE rules and was extremely impressed. I signed up for this mailing list, but haven't gotten any messages yet so I figured I'd sent out a question/test message to see if I had joined properly (or maybe everyone's just still on vacation) :) The one concept I'm having the most trouble wrapping my little brain around first time through is scale. I get the general idea, but I'd like a bit more explanation of what happens when different scales interact. For example, Joe has Fair Strength (scale 0) and Mike has Fair Strength (scale 2). Does this mean Mike automatically beats Joe in any opposed Strength actions? The book says scale only enters into it for opposed rolls. So if they're both trying to pick up a rock, how does scale matter? For that matter, I can't seem to find any guidelines for lifting or carrying. Am I missing them somewhere? Thanks!
