While shooting the guy was Ford's idea, and it was because he was tired
and weak (from dysentery) and wasn't looking forward to the 3-1/2 page
fight scene, it apparently wasn't ad-libbed...  he had Spielberg's
blessing.  From the pages of the online authority on urban legends...
