Hoever, combat should be viewed as a plot element that can be overused (or underused for that matter) and thus go from a plot driver to a plot killer. This applies to other plot elements as well. Political intrigue can be a great plot element and make for a memorable story, but session after session could be too much. The exact mix of plot elements that would be considered optimum will differ with each group, but that's another topic entirely.
