Hmmm...you mean physically smaller? Well, ancient Chinese belief systems are rife with political maneuvering and intricate heirarchies...that might be a good place to start (I'm not really all that familiar with them, so I'll leave it at that). As for western mythology...well...there are various demons and devils in judeo-christianity who are concerned with greed, acquisition of power and other things. Mammon, for example, the patron devil of Spain, was most interested in greed and gluttony. Beelzebub was "Lord of Lies," suggesting a political inclination ( ;) ). As for minions so minor they didn't have personal names...of that, I have no clue. I don't think the afterlife was that well organized until late Roman/early Christian period.
