Coincidentally enough, I'm in the process of negotiating a business relationship with National Fiber Technologies, in Lawrence, MA. What they are, is a company that produces custom fur products (Mike, just shut up, okay?) for museum replicas, Hollywood and whatnot. I gather their setup is that they've got a bunch of looms and such that are over fifty years old (at least, that's when they were last made), and that it's a pretty interesting thing to see, at least if you're fascinated by intricate mechanical gizmos. They don't do formal tours (that I know of), but I might could talk them into letting a few geeks in to rubberneck. Folks who've done so say it's cool, at least from the sewing-geek standpoint. Presumably that'd only be a Friday-afternoon-right-after-we-arrive sort of thing, unless they work weekends. Should I ask? -- Karen J.
