Okay... a near-complete draft of the schedule as I see it follows. Review
it and see what you think. Mike, you're my reality checker
here... don't hesitate to tell me I'm grossly underestimating travel
times or such.
Friday:
11:18 AM - Karen and I arrive at BOS airport, discounting delays
(My stomach is going to call that 12:18. The drive to National
Fiber Technologies is about an hour. Do we need to plan for lunch
before the NFT tour?)
Let's call it two hours to get out of the airport, get something to
eat, and drive to NFT. That'll put us there at... call it 1:30.
1:30 PM - National Fiber Tech tour.
Karen says at least an hour and a half, 'cause she might half to
talk business. Drive home is what, another hour or more?
That would be around 4:00.
This is where it gets vague... what are our Friday night plans?
The only people confirmed for Friday at this point are the
Feldhusens, Karen and I. (Steve Hammond has a work conflict that
is going to delay him until Sunday events.) I'm thinking that
Friday is dinner, conversation, and maybe retiring to the
Feldhusen's for some board and card games if anybody's interested.
There's a bit of a gap between our arriving back in Marlborough and
an appropriate dinner time. I guess the four of us can hang around
and talk, maybe play some short games until dinner time. Folks
could start showing up to hang out before dinner by, say, 5:00 to
give us plenty of margin to get back from the NFT tour. (I'm
probably micro-managing this, but I don't want anybody left out if
having a precise schedule would allow them to participate.)
5:00 PM - Gather at the Feldhusen's for pre-dinner casual time.
This will allow those close by to arrive moderately early, but if
we plan a late dinner we allow those who might have to drive a bit
after work to reach us.
7:00 PM - Dinner and after-dinner casual time.
After dinner, provided we don't sit around the restaurant and talk
all night, we'd retire to the Feldhusens' for more chat and gaming.
Saturday
??:?? AM - Breakfast.
If anybody's interested in having breakfast with us on Saturday,
let's negotiate a time and place.
10:00 AM - Higgins Armory Museum, with lunch to follow.
I believe we'd decided this'll take about two hours, so we'll catch
lunch afterward. Unless we're totally in the wrong area, this
seems like a good time to catch a game shop. (Mostly for Karen and
I... everyone else is from the area and probably couldn't care
less.) We'll decide after lunch if we have enough time or if
there's something else we'd rather do.
The important thing here is that we need a target time we can say
we'll definitely be back at Home Base for anyone arriving for
Saturday Night activities. To be consistent with the other days,
I'm going to call this 4:00 unless someone else has a better idea.
4:00 PM - Convene at Feldhusen's for dinner and gaming
Hmm... looks like a sparse crowd on Saturday night with the
Feldhusens missing. Ann Dupuis might be available to run a Fudge
game here. I could run one on this night if Ann doesn't, but the
question is, will there be enough people here at this time to
bother? Our "confirmed" list has dwindled a bit. I need to check
on some of the "maybe's" now that we're less than a week away and I
should be able to get yea's or nay's. We'll firm up the activity
when I have a better idea of who'll be there. (Not everyone
interested is reading this list... I'm going to send a copy of this
out to them as well.)
Sunday
10:30 AM - King Richard's Faire
4:00 PM - Convene at Feldhusen's for dinner and gaming
Pretty much the same deal as yesterday.
Monday
Karen and I leave at noon.
