Most of the groups I play with stay together as groups, at least loosely, and what gets played is a matter of negotiation; most often, someone (usually I) says "right, that campaign's over and I feel like running something next, here are some options" and the players choose the campaign that sounds most interesting. We aren't in a gaming club setting where someone can run a single campaign up the flagpole and see who's interested.
