The gatehouse contains several lanterns, much as Verthes expected.  He
lights one, and hands it to Ryzar, before picking up a second.

The soft yellow light illuminates the room, including the huddled
figure on the floor, knocked out in an earlier fight with Jaldaric

'Wwwwww', he moans.

Verthes whirls round, dropping his as yet unlit lamp with a clatter.

"Zurnethal!", he says, "You live!".

"Wubble", replies the prone figure.
