Kalyr is set in my original fantasy world of Kalyr, and focuses on the struggle between the ancient and decadent kandar civilisation, and their rebellious human slaves. It features psionics, arcane technology, strange alien races, mystery and intrigue. Influences include Gene Wolfe & Jack Vance, but don't let that put you off!

Kalyr 73d - Fire-Fighting

Shmuel

Cross posting from another game which I thought maybe interesting to some
of you

In that game we reached a place which the obvious intent was that no one
will enter. Warnings of different kind including a stop sign like picture
and detailed explanation in an old language (which we read), hard to enter,
secret doors, the locals think the area is tabu etc. We entered... (did not
get out yet).

Posting from one of the lurkers

Considering this "forbidden" area that you are dealing with, I couldn't
help
be reminded of the following story:

http://www.salon.com/people/feature/2002/05/10/yucca_mountain/index.html

It describes a project whose aim is to create a warning sign that will keep
people away from nuclear waste burial areas, even in 10,000 years.

I doubt it will be successful. After all, the Egyptians did put warning
signs on their tombs saying that every conceivable horror will befall you
if
you enter them. Much good that did.

So, history tells us that if someone took all this trouble to warn people
away from somewhere - either there's a big treasure there, or there's a
*really* good reason why people shouldn't go there.

Take your pick :-)

Oren.
