Kalyr is set in my original fantasy world of Kalyr, and focuses on the struggle between the ancient and decadent kandar civilisation, and their rebellious human slaves. It features psionics, arcane technology, strange alien races, mystery and intrigue. Influences include Gene Wolfe & Jack Vance, but don't let that put you off!

Kalyr: 91a - The Docker's Armpit

[Zul]
"You be sweet," she purrs to the bouncer as she passes close to him, "and I
just might be yours for free."

She nods as Aldrand sits down. "Yeah, I can be a real pain in the ass, can't
I?" She lowers her voice. "Look, I know I got a little bit of whatcha might
call poor impulse control, but I ain't stupid. I know I'm on your boss's
list, up? That's why I'm here. I wanna to whatever I can to make things
right."

"Right now, I've got a couple of tips to help you guys get to the bottom of
this fire. Not much, but something to go on. But hell, I know that's not
enough to get me off probation. So, he wants to tax me, he's got something
he wants done he don't wanna use his own people, you just tell me, and I'm
there. I'll just say this: I'm worth a lot more to him walking and talking
than I am face-down in the river."

>After ordering a beer, she takes a seat at a table near Aldrand's --

>"So, like a bad coin, you're back", he says.
