Tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon, I'm going to be taking the Phoenyx server hardware off line to add more memory and do a couple other maintenance items. (I need to test the UPS daemon that's supposed to shut the machine down sometime between a power outage and the battery going dead, which requires shutting down, and I need to test the "keep alive" script that I wrote which is supposed to ensure that the PPP connection stays up... we've recently had some problems with that. The PPP driver is supposed to auto-reconnect when it loses the connection, but it locked up recently. So I've written another script to periodically make sure that the PPP driver itself is alive. A watcher for the watchman, if you will. So you may see the connection come and go for a few minutes as I test this function. Both of these items are rather important since the server spends at least 70% of its time completely unattended.) The machine will probably go down around 3 PM (CST) and be down for about half an hour if all goes well, but don't be surprised if the downtime stretches a bit longer. -- Carl D Cravens (raven@phoenyx.net) Why get even, when you can get odd? -- -------------------------------------------------------------- Listowner tools are found at http://www.phoenyx.net/listowners
