Chat> Refugees Coming?

This may seem off-topic, but it may lead to a lot of new game
submissions to the phoenyx.

Here's why;

As some of you might know, I started off my on-line GMing career on
Compuserve's RPGAMES forum, using the forum message boards. I have
always found this forum to be an excellent communtity of GMs and
players, and a lot of very high quality games have run there.

A month ago, there was a major forum restructuring, and RPGAMES was
replaced by a new forum called ADULTRPG. The reason we were given at
the time was that, since most of Compuserve's forums were being opened
to the web, the only way we could preserve a member-only forum was to
move it into the 'Adult' section. Many people voiced concern at this
at the time, but we were assured that the place would not be allowed
to degenerate into an 'adult chatroom', and would be much as it had
before (except for the absence of any under-18s)

Now it appears that we've been at best misled, at worse lied to. The
forum web-view front page ( http://go.compuserve.com/adultrpg
,although I *think* non-CSI customers cannot reach this page) is
heavily promoting those threads with explicit sexual content. We've
started to get off-topic sleazy 'Adult Personal Ads' posted into game
threads by the types attracted by these. Forum management are
brushing off complaints with platitudes, and removing all criticism of
the direction things are going from the message boards.

The result of this is there will be a lot of high-quality games
looking for new homes. Unless Karen and Carl raise any objections I
indent to recommend the Phoenyx to any GMs who's games come up to the
Phoenyx's standards.
