This one looks promising. It's a little different, but my next request is to find out how much the characters interact with each other, both directly and through their followers. Let me know what you think of it. title = Starchildren- The Barren World blurb = The fourteen Final Stars met one day, to discuss the end of the universe. Already it had all collapsed around them, and only they and thier power was left to give light to the darkness around them. "We should create a new world," said the North Star, "A world with a race of wise people, who will not destroy the universe for power." "No!" said the Fire Star. "We should make a race of warriors, to combat the darkness!" "No, we should give the race power to correct thier mistakes," said the Gravatic Star. "That way, we will not have to watch them." And as they argued, the darkness drew closer. "Listen to what I have to say," said the Timeless Star. "We should each create a race, and each create a Starchild to watch over and help that race grow, to aid that race against the darkness, to prune when necessary, to guide when necessary, and to defend when necessary." This, they all agreed to, and created thier world. The Barren World. For now. In this game the players create both a race and a demigod, which they will play. Characters are for the most part immortal, and each follows along the lines of thier mother star. For example, a civilization following the Gold Star would, like thier mother star, have an interest in beautiful and material things. However, a civilization with the mother Silver Star would be more interested in defeating supernatural entities like Demons and Ghosts. The primary object is to create a world, populated with different peoples, that will have a natural balance. Since this game is free-form, and the characters are demigods, they will get a fairly free leash when it comes to character creation, as long as they follow the guidelines of thier mother star. web = genre = Fantasy system = Free-Form about = Most of my experience is in PBeMs... I've tried to hold a tabletop AD&D game at home, but I prefer PBeMs by far since they offer more roleplaying opportunity. ==== I asked for a turn sample... ==== Anyway, here's a short back and forth segment between one player and me. For reference, the Sanctuary is where the characters would stay, a kind of "heaven", the Ghori is an opposing race, the character is Elendil (for lack of a better name), Ilnas is a city, and Telesten is the leader of the player's race. GM: Elendil suddenly senses that Telesten is praying for your guidedance in his next battle with the Ghori. He's also praying for his divine protection, a slightly modified version of the prayer in the holy book of Elendil. Elendil: Elendil leaves the Sanctuary gardens and goes to his halls. He reaches out to his crystal pool and attempts to use his supernatural powers to locate Telesten from the Sanctuary. GM: The crystal pool shows he is in your temple in Ilnas, burning the proper incense, and he is alone. Elendil: Elendil appears to him as a great battle-falcon, mottled grey, and holding a rose in his claws. OOC: The rose is the Ghori symbol of death, correct? GM: OOC: Yes. That and, of course, your war symbol. =) Elendil: OOC: Of course. =) Would Telesten recognize it from the time he was captured? GM: Telesten stands up as he sees you apparition appear on the altar before him. Blinking, he sees the rose, and immediately draws his sword. Elendil: Elendil looks at him and says, "Sheath your sword, hero of mine, or lest you impale yourself on it." He then flies to Telesten's shoulder and says "Go now, and sleep. You'll need your strength for tomorrow or else I won't be able to protect you from exhaustion. When you go to talk to the Ghori war leader tomorrow, present him with this and ask for honourable combat. He won't refuse. I will protect you then, and by killing thier leader, your soldiers shall be saved as well." Elendil then flies out the temple doors and into the sky, eventually becoming lost among the stars and returning to the Sanctuary. GM: Telesten raises the rose in his fist to you as you leave and shouts, "I promise, lord!" You return to the Hall of Heroes in the Sanctuary and find that your crystal pool is clear again. Does this help clear things out? The goal of the players is to kind of "sculpt" thier races' civilizations using appearances like this, giving visions, bestowing powers, maybe actually going to the Barren World and taking command. -- -------------------------------------------------------------- Listowner tools are found at http://www.phoenyx.net/listowners
