This presently only affects Celandra, Kalyr, and Realms (well, and GAMERS,
but I'm the manager there and I already know this); probably by the time I
add any other groups we'll have a daemon doing this behind the scenes.
But if I try to cc all three owners, I'll run afoul of my own spam
filtering ("I have a mailing list for managers... I'd never have a reason
to send to more than one at a time on the 'To' line.") D'oh!
Anyway, if you three ever want to, you can visit
http://www.phoenyx.net/cgi-bin/vicerup.pl
and it will call Gamehawk to update any queued mail (that is, any mailing
list stuff that hasn't gone to the archive/webforums) into the database,
and then go out and call viceroy to update the last 48 hours' worth of
pages and stuff for any affected groups. It's not what you'd call
efficient, it barfs a whole bunch of non-intuitive debug stuff, and if
your browser is prone to timeouts you won't always see it finish (hey,
it's hammering on three different servers, one of them shared, one of them
feeble, and one of them the live Phoenyx server), but if you absolutely
positively have to have the stuff out on the web right now, there you go.
(I gotta sit down and figure the exact dependencies for any given message.
Itself, its thread, its month, its year, its topic, its group, its
author, its previous by date, its previous by thread... uh... and of
course each of those have an html/rss version, times
index/summary/sometimes-thread... you see why vicerup can take awhile,
on top of the three-server issue.)
I'm really gonna hafta watch out, or "viceroy" is going to work its way
into the Wirebird taxonomy. (It started out as the temporary replacement
for Mhonarc, the web archiver, but is the general stand-in for the
eventual mod_perl/Apache module that will serve the web pages.)
