Cabin Stuff

Okay found all this in the Yahoogroups archive... Jezebel was in cabin 8,
Zeek was in the armory... These posts are out of order, but if you go back
in the list they're all right in the messaged 4500 - 4700 area.

>Okay which floor are the crew quarters on? Deck 1 or deck 2? Are
>the bunks single bunk per unit? Fold out upper bunks? In wall units
>with curtians like a sleeper berth on a train?

I'll answer this generally, and send to the list for
everyone...

The deckplans for the ship are on the website...

www.crosswinds.net/~eris

...and I have a copy of the deckplans, description and stats
for the Mae Lee in the Yahoogroups file area. Go to...

groups.yahoo.com/group/akus/files/

...and enter the Mae Lee folder.

Crew quarters are on Deck 1. Deck 2 is passenger country.
The cabins numbered 1 through 12 are single bunk units. The
cabins lettered A, B and C are larger single person
units...and are already taken. The unit marked Large
Suite was the previous owners cabin, but has been converted
into the Ship's Office.

The beds are singles and fold down from the wall. When the
beds are folded up there is a desk available for writing
that folds out from the underside of the bed unit. The
rectangle in each of the numbered units is *very* small
private a "fresher" unit (combines toliet/washbasin/shower).
Storage is limited to a chest under the bed and a tiny
closet built into the side of the fresher.

Computer consoles are built into the wall of each unit and
combine entertainment, communications, and computer
functions. The primary interface is keyboard and flatscreen
monitor. Voice inter-ship communication and recording of
messages is included, but not voice activation or control.

There are a couple of commons areas just for the crew. On
the deckplan, below the Sickbay is the galley area, and
below units 11 and 12 is a larger common's area that hasn't
been used much so far. The large suite/office *could* be
used by the "crew community", but you'll need to take that
up with the Captain.

Down on Deck 2 there are a couple of things I should
mention. First there is a large commons area there for the
passengers, but the crew also uses it. Second, there is an
unwalled "reception" area between the passenger dining area
and the commons. This reception area is where the Stewards
work and includes communications and computer consoles that
are commonly usable.

You might notice there are more crew quarters than passenger
quarters. That's because the ship isn't really a liner and
in the past took on passengers more as an afterthought than
a regular line of business.

OOC: See, Cory's response...

Jezebel walks back to Engineering and finds a measuring tape
hanging from a hook on a workbench.

OOC: You're going to have little luck. The cabin is 2
meters by 3 meters. You aren't expected to "live" in your
cabin, just sleep there. You live in the rest of the ship.

The bunk folds down right up against the partition
separating the cabins, so you aren't going to be able to
hang or put anything there. There is 1 meter ceiling to
floor blank wall from the folded down bunk to the outer
wall. From floor to overhead is 2.4 meters. With the bunk
folded into the down position you have 1.2 meters above and
0.8 meters below.

>OOC - How the heck does this bed convert into a desk?

Don't think office desk, think writing surface.

OOC: Jez begins to pile bags and boxes in the corridor
outside her cabin. She might be able to get all of her
"essentials" inside, but not her essentials and herself.

Searching...

>Once the computer begins its search she heads off to the
>cargo hold and begins dragging things up to her new room.

Subject: Moving on...

Jezebel finishes with the documents from Ricardo and stumbles out into the
hall almost running over Shawn.

"Umm... Where's cabin eight?"

She waits for Shawn to point her in the right direction and works her way
down the hall.

Jezebel stands in front of the doorway, her bags hanging on her shoulders
and looks suspiciously at the thumb print lock before placing her thumb
firmly on the scanner. A moment later the door slides open and Jezebel
looks in, she blinks and the door closes. She sticks her thumb back on the
lock and waits patiently for the door to open again, she blinks again before
turning to look at Shawn.

"There's been some sort of terrible mix up, apparenlty someone's replaced my
stateroom with a broom closet."

The door slides shut a second time.

She takes a deep breath and pushes her thumb on the lock again. Again the
door slides open, she looks back at Shawn again. "I keep hoping it's like a
fun house or something where the door opens and there's a different room
behind it everytime. That function doesn't appear to be working at the
moment."

The door starts to slide shut and she sticks and hand in the way forcing the
door open again. Jezebel steps inside and the door starts to close again,
her hand waves back out into the hall and the door opens. She sticks her
head back out into the hall and looks at Shawn once more. "We breath in the
hall right?"

Jezebel vanishes from sight and the door closes behind her with a hiss.

She looks about her room in a stunned silence a frown spreads across her
face. "Note to self - purchase cat and figure out if there is enough room
to swing it in here."

Jezebel throws her bags one the bed and gives the matress a tentative push
as she begins making mental notes.

*Standard issue mattress, that's gotta go.*

She pushes the chair across the room and looks into the bathroom.

*Chair, bye bye, washroom functional. Not much room for pictures.*

Jezebel checks out the small closet and looks at the large open wall next to
the bed.

*Organizer, or maybe a wardrobe with lots of drawers.*

Lastly she pulls the regulation foot locker out from under the bed.

*Ick... I'll have to find an airlock to pitch that out of.*

She activates the wall mounted computer with a gentle tap from her fingers.

"Computer can you record video from this unit and do dicatations to text?"

Double LOL's! Seeing as Jezebel doesn't want Cabin 8, how about Zeek
taking it?
