The building is old and the stairs are wooden and steep. Ilane bounds up them enjoying the exercise, past the second and onto the landing of the third floor. As she steps out into the hall she comes face to face with a woman stepping from the grav lift. April steps into the grav lift and hits number 3. As the lift rises quickly, she rehearses in him mind what she is going to say to the lawyers...how she had been called away on a family emergency and had only just arrived to accept her inheritance. She had papers to prove it. Smiling to herself, she knew she had the clout to back it up too. When the doors to the lift open she steps briskly out and right into another woman's path. It's the woman that was going up the stairs...she must have *run* up the stairs to have gotten here this quickly. Both of women are standing in the hall outside a frosted glass door with the inscription "Brand & Gigo, Esquire" painted on it in gold leaf. Eris AKU GM

When Ilane realizes that she's going for the same door as the same time as the person from the lift, she decides to politely defer to the shorter woman. She steps back a step to let her pass, smiles and says in a calm and friendly tone, "Oh, excuse me! Please...after you..." The woman who just spoke is 6'0", with a lithe, slim dancer's build, light olive skin, european-looking facial features, and brownish-black curly hair, cut short. Although her attractive, youthful features and excellent physical condition would imply that she's in her late twenties, the slightly older appearance of her hands reveals that she's actually in her mid-thirties. She wearing a classy-looking navy-blue business suit, matching stockings and low-heeled dress shoes. -- Bob K. Jac nods and puts the phone back to his ear and talks to Lady Ryobi, "All right then, it's arranged. Thank you and, I love you too." Putting the comm down Jac says to the group, "Okay, Aunt Mazie will get the details from Woof or I after we do the business, and arrange things on this end from there." "Woof, Ricardo? Where do we go from here?" Eris AKU GM
Thanks, Suz. Eris, Hope you get better soon and that the requirements for surgery will be minimal! (and watch eating those nuts (which is how he broke it!)) Ouch... The brother in law, 31, just had one of his wisdom teeth pulled and a root canal all in one sitting... He looked none to happy. -----Original Message----- From: Terry Mixon To: akus@phoenyx.net Sent: 3/6/03 6:30 AM Subject: Re: [akus] --- Suz Dollarwrote: > Greetings! > > Just a quick note to pass along that Eris has a broken tooth and was > busy dealing with it yesterday and has to go back today and possibly > have a root canal. "I >joined a zero-gee dance troupe at eighteen, and I haven't >been back since." >"You?" Before April gets a chance to answer the door to the offices open and a young woman wearing a long black gown and a white powdered wig and carrying leather portfolio and a stack of file folders in her arms bustles in. "Come help me Oscar!" she says with a touch of frustration in her voice, "His Honor was in all his glory this morning." As the young man comes forward to take the folders off of her hands she continues, "Nobody except 'His Honor' would dare call a court into order at seven in the morning just so he could make some sort of golf date!" "Torts for Breakfast! Gah! Throws everyone's day off..." she is saying as she removes the wig and then notices April and Ilane, "Oh, hello! Sorry! Just a second." She tosses the wig to Oscar who catches it deftly as she turns back to the waiting cousins, "Good morning." She strides over confidently and holds out her hand, "I am Jan Gigo." Behind her the older woman is prompting her boss, "Sianna Gigo this is Ilane Lanik, your nine o'clock appointment "Sianna Lanik, it's a pleasure. I have informed Captain O'Brien that you were arriving. The ship is on Sequi, that's three light days from here, so he should be replying in a day or two whether you should remain here or move on to the /Mae Lee's/ next port of call." "...and April Rose." "April Rose?" Jan flashes a grin, "Ah, yes! The *other* missing cousin. I had a 'heads up' from Lady Ryobi yesterday that you were going to show up one of these days, and here you are." "Would you both like to go over the status of your legacy together or separately?" Gigo asks, "We'll go back to my offices where you can look over the papers and ask questions. Although, it is pretty cut and dried, really." She looks back and forth between the two women and asks quizzically, "Together? Separately? Shall we?" Sianna Gigo smiles, "Then let's go." She stops at the desk as she leads the two women toward the right hand corridor, "Oscar, pull the Cousins & Company file, as well as our hardcopy of the Akus Moby will and bring them back. Oh, and a cup of coffee for me, a *large* cup." Jan glances back at April and Ilane, "Would either of you like a cup of coffee or a soft drink?" After this interaction with Oscar, the trio head down the corridor to an office door. Jan Gigo puts her hand into the resessed area on its front and the door opens for her. "Come in and have a seat." she says as she steps inside. As you walk inside you see a neat office. There is a desk with a terminal sitting beside it, and three chairs. One chair is behind the desk and the other two are arranged in front of it. One wall has bookshelves with a mixture of books and data cartridges. The other has a large window looking out on a gardened courtyard behind the building and beyond you see a covered walkway leading to the streets beyond. Gigo moves over to a wooden rod with hooks on the top. She unzips her long black robe and hangs it on one of the hooks, then sits behind her desk, and waits for you to sit in the other two chairs. "So!" she says looking back and forth between April and Ilane, "Do I take this visit to mean you both want to accept the terms of Si Moby's last Will and Testament assume your share in of his ship and estate?"
