Mae Lee 0997.265: Summary

On 265 Shawn and Mira continue their early morning handball
sessions.

The empty areas of the cargo deck are filled with the
thumping feet of the footballers running back and forth
trying to stay in shape.

A low-stakes, but contentious, poker game starts in the
Passenger Lounge. Passengers and some of the crew
participate. No one wins or loses more than a few credits.

Shawn disappears during his off-duty hours. If anyone looks
for him, he is in his cabin "doing something."

Marta de Berg plays several of the songs she has purchased
the rights to after dinner. Some is good, some
isn't...various listeners have different reactions.

Anything I need to add for any of the PC's?

Shawn is getting the recodings that Arvitis is making. He listens to
the ones he borrows from Mira as well.

When you compare Mira's voice to the recordings of Galani
you hear the similarity. Mira's voice isn't as well trained,
nor as rich, but then you're comparing studio recordings to
echoes through an air vent recorded on makeshift equipment, too.

Shawn was still impressed at how well she stacked up to a professional.
He did tell Arvitis that the recordings through the vents didn't rate
making into a recording. Shawn told him that he (Shawn) would look into
the posibilities of getting a better recording.

Kelly sees very little of the passengers. He interacts
mostly with Anspor, Ukanav and Ricardo...who are helping
with the maintenance. Kelly takes his dinners in the crew
galley as much as possible, and goes down to the crew lounge
occasionally to relax.

In the crew lounge he often comes across Lysia who seems to
be fussing about with the furniture and fittings. Her
efforts mostly just keep Kelly from using the lounge here to
relax and read, so he retreats to his cabin.

Lysia works at installing the better crystal player in the crew hall, the second best in the passanger hall and the 3rd best down in Mira's Hydroponic's lab.

She practices for a few days alone in zero g to get her feet back into it as it's been a while before joining in with the others playing Slap Shawn about.

Totally OOG here - Any ideas who I seen a letter to to address a problem I'm having with my hotmail account? I see a bug report but this really isn't a bug and I've found nothing for feed back. Problem is, don't laugh, I went in this morning to look at my emails and found a dozen or so bounced emails. I thought this was rather odd as I don't use the account that much, so I opened them up and Lo and Behold some bastard has been porn spamming from my hotmail name. So I immediately changed my password but I'm not sure who I should report this to.

Mira lends the recording she has of Galina to Shawn and remains steadfast
in her refusal to sing for him.

She goes down and pokes her nose into whatever Arvitis is doing, just for
grins and giggles and drags Ricardo down and starts working on him for a
budget for improvements in hydroponics.

She finds that Arvitis is in the lab tinkering with a
collection of parts. If she asks him what he is doing he
says that he is trying to put a working sensor module
together from all these broken parts...and not having much luck.

"What did you think of that music the passenger played last
night?" Arvitis asks, "For what it's work I think I
like...ur...I mean I think I *would* like...

A strange expression appears on Arvitis' face and his neck
starts to turn red, and he trails off, "...ur, never mind."

Then after a quick embarrassed smile he turns back to his work.

She gives him a dubious look, "Sure. Right."

"So what are you working on so diligently down here?" She asks wanting to
change the subject and wishing she hadn't already had her session with
Shawn. Maybe Woof would play her this afternoon.

"Oh! Well, you know we had a problem with a PEMS control
module on the Bridge before we lifted off the planet, and I
took the module out of the boat and rigged it up. That means
we don't have one for the boat." he sees as happy to change

"Well, anyway, there were a bunch of parts in Engineering
and I thought I'd see if I could take parts from here and
there and get one PEMS control module working that we could
put in the boat. That'd save us some time and money."

"But we're still going to have to get some sensor receivers
once we get to Mark." he sighs and scratches his head with a
screwdriver he had been using to take the case off of a some
module or other.

A small grin forms on Arvitis' face as he adds, "I get to
use my denseometer to look in the cases before I open them,
too."

Mira smiles at the big man fondly, "Its always great to have a good excuse

He picks up a certain air about her, but isn't quite sure what it is. He

Ricardo joins on on occasion, whereupon everyone else's luck goes up :-)

Pretty much the rest of the time he's schmoozing with passengers,
poking his nose into engineering enough to annoy Kelly, poking his nose
into the 'ponics enough to annoy Mira, poking his nose in the galley
enough to annoy Woof.

(Though he does tell Mira to work up a budget for real plants and such,
and we'll see what we can get going....I'd thought we'd done that
a long time ago, and this was just a 'prepping the system' stage of
setting up the garden, like setting up a fishtank and letting it settle
for a week or two before putting in the fish)

He gets in Lysia's way while redoing the electronics (though not really
since he's got some skill in electronics) then annoys the crew by
watching his favored GoGlo-boys style B action vids.

Basically he does what a Captain does when there's nothing really for a
Captain to do.

He tells Zeke, Lysia and Ukanav to study their basic Starship crew
training materials, so they can get cert's back on Mark. Zeek and Lysia
should have fewer problems than Ukanav, since they at least have some
background, vacc suit drills and such.

He'll help them if need be.

Nah, it's because Shawn said he's spending his free time in his cabin
working on some 'secret project' and getting sweaty with Mira doing
