Arvitis gives a call to the passenger lounge where Ricardo

Shawn glanced at the chrono and rose to his feet with a wave to
everyone else.

"Time to earn those little cridits that miser of a captain pays me," he
said with a grin.

Shawn made his way to the bridge and waved to Arvitis.

"Afternoon, Arvitis."

He brought his console to life and started preping for exit from jump.

"Hello, Shawn." Arvitis replies without looking up, "You
know I don't have a lot of experience watching the sensors
for a breakout, but I'd estimate about 10 minutes based on
what the graph from the last time looked like."

"So, where's Ricardo?" Arvitis asks, "He going to join us up
here? Oh, and I didn't let Kelly know. You going to take
care of that?"

OOC: According to the posted schedule, Kelly, is in his
cabin sleeping, Anspor is in Engineering, and Ukanave is
on-duty, but listed as working on grav module maintenance in
the cargo hold.

Shawn looked at the time and did his math. What kind time frame was the
jump looking like?

"Got it covered."

Shawn called Kelly.

"Sorry to wake you, pal, but it looks like we are ready to exit jump."

He also called engineering.

"Anspor, looks like jump termination shortly."

Ricardo is sitting down at his console as Arvitis says this "Man, I'm
glad the ships sensors are better 'n yours, Arvitis!"

He switches his comm to Kelly's room. He makes it a few times.
"Rise and shine Chief! We're almost there...out of jump in 10 minutes
according to the tall one."

If Kelly doesn't answer within a minute or two, he'll set his intercom
to an emergency klaxon and definitely wake him up.

OOC: JR are you away...if so I'll NPC...

"Right! I'll be in engineering in five minutes."

OOG: That's what I had in mind. :-) I'm sort of back - this hotel's high speed access has its quirks; it's fast but my computer doesn't completely recognize the connection.

All systems are normal. The jump grid is ready to be shut
down and the power plant has been reved up to full power to
supply power to the stutterwarp and grav drives.

Eight minutes pass and then there is a twisting feeling in
the pit's of everyone's stomach and the ship emerges from
Jumpspace. On the bridge speakers fill with the sounds of
traffic in the system, data and voice, and the sensors begin

Shawn does a quick check, this is Mark, and the ship is just
about where he planned for it to be. You are further out
than you'd have liked, but the position of planets and the
stars forced that. It looks like you have a 26 hour run
ahead to get into the mainworld.

Arvitis opens his eyes breathing heavily. It looks like he's
still suffering from disorientation every time the ship goes
into or comes out of jump.

He scans the sensors and says, "Nothing close to us."

Frowning slightly he cocks his head and tinkers with the
comm, "Someone is calling us by our call letters, Ricky.
I'll put it on the speakers."

"...on asteroid base calling the Mae Lee,
please respond...This is Ilane Lanik on asteroid base calling the Mae Lee,
please respond..." is repeated through the speaker.

Arvitis raises his eyebrow and asks Ricardo, "You know an
Ilane Lanik?"

Shawn looked over at Ricardo.

"Girlfriend of yours?"

Ricardo looks around, a look of long suffering on his face..."Why does
everyone always think *I'M* the one to blame! Couldn't it be Kelly or
Anspor or Mira?? Noooo it's Ricky who's always causing the problems!"

He turns to Shawn..."they're calling us, may as well answer." He shakes
his head. "You may want to locate the nearest Patrol ship as well,
Arvitis, just in case." Still shaking his head he comms the shipwide
intercom.

"Good afternoon, all, this is your captain speaking. We've arrived in
the Mark system, spot on where our fine navigator Mr. Smith aimed for,
and we're about 26 hours out of Mark orbit.

We'll have established commgrid hookup in about an hour, at which time
your in-cabin terminals can be used to to contact Mark.

Be aware though, that right now there's about a comm lag from our position to Mark, and we'll not have
transfered to local comms rates until about..." he looks at the clock
"...about 9 hundred hours tomorrow morning."

He turns back to Shawn " Now get me our base...I want to find out who
these people are. Dara mentioned new cousins...they're doing exactly
what we did when we found out about the base." He looks over to
Arvitis. "How far out of the way is our asteroid?"

"That's because *you're* the Captain, and everything's the
Captain's fault." Arvitis chuckles as he checks for the
source of this message.

Arvitis waits until Ricardo finishes before saying, "The
signal is coming from our asteroid, or near it anyway. So,
whoever this Ilane Lanik is she's either on, in or orbiting
Akus' rock."

"Oh, and the nearest patrol boat is the /Cardinal See/, and
it's a little over eight million klicks from us."

Shawn finds the asteroid is in bound from their position and
just over 16 million klicks off the ship's course to Mark.
He estimates it will take about 90 minutes to get there from
here.

Woof is in the passenger lounge checking on the passengers.
It doesn't look like anyone lost their lunch, and all seem
very happy to be out of jump and into normal space.

"Sounds like fun." Arvitis says with a grin and goes to work.

Kelly and Anspor are in Engineering. They have shut down the
jump grid and started a diagnostic on both the jump drive
and the grid to make sure they are in good shape.

Mira is in the Sickbay, doing an inventory. She has a short
list of comsumables needed in Sickbay, and a considerably
longer list of things she wants for her gardens.

That longer list currently has no discernable end, but she does have it
prioritized and knows better than to hit anyone with all of her infinite
plans all at once.

Mira looks up at the sound and cocks an eyebrow. What now?

She heads to the bridge quickly. Not so much because she feels she needs to
respond to orders quickly, but far more because that curiosity streak that
keeps her from settling down has been stirred.

"You rang, sir?" She inquires as she slides into the bridge.

"Someone is calling us from our asteroid...which is supposedly dark and
locked up, if I recall how we left it.

I would like you to *quietly* bring the forward turret up on line. I'm
going to call our lawyers; this may be the new cousin the lawyers dug
up, but we'll want to be prepared."

Ricardo shakes his head.

"Oh, by the way, the lawyers dug up another cousin."

He comms Woof. When Woof answers, he says "I've got Mira bringing the
forward turret online, just in case. If any of the passengers ask, our
engineers are chasing down a minor sensors glitch and they needed to
move the turret to better access the wiring."

He sighs. He sets up the call to Dara. What time is it in Mark City?

It is 1640 in Mark City. If you make the call from out here
there will be a 13 minute time lag each way. You place the
call...

At 1646 your comm comes to life...and Arvitis notices that
the closest Patrol boat has started changing vectors toward
the /Mae Lee's/ course.

"This is the Mark Space Patrol boat /Silver Eyes/ calling
unknown ship. You must identify yourself and start a
transponder announcing your ship's name, id and in-system
vector. You are in violation of local Traffic Control and
System Security regulations, and will be subject to direct
actions if you do not comply immediately.../Silver Eyes/,
over..."

OOC: Neither Bruce or Shawn remembered to flip the
transponder on. If they do now, the above will be
handled OOC and the patrol boat will go back to its business
and leave you alone.

At 1653, the comm springs to life..."Brand and Gigo, how can
we help you?"

Kelly runs the proper checklist to bring his systems to a tactical

"I've never used a turret, but I *have* used a mining

OOG - Feeling like hell atm, I just love antibiotic's. =P

Why would you have to tell the passangers you're moving the turret? Unless you're physically dragging it through the passanger deck I doubt they'd notice. "Scuz us, mind your toes, turret coming through."

1) Because I know Eris. One of them is going to hear something that
he'll recognize as a turret moving about. Hopefully instead of freaking
out and screaming 'Game Over Man! We're snack food!' he'll ask Woof, who
will give a plausible cover story.

Oh sure blame Eris (voiced by Michelle Phiffer). As long as no one is blaming me I guess it's all good. I was just reading the review of Sinbad and thought it was mildly humerous that Eris, Goddess of Chaos (voiced by Michelle Phiffer) and our illustrious GM had the same name... Although it would explain some thing...

Ricardo says "Thank you, and give my regards to Sianna's Brand and Gigo.
Over and out."

(if this person wasn't either of them)

Ricardo turns to Shawn "This ilane Lanik appears to be the cousin who
was found, and she turned up with April Rose...remember her?"

He sighs, "May as well return their call, see what they have to say.
We'll wait to stand down until after they've got to say..."

He adjusts his comm to the asteroid's frequency. "This is Captain
