Woof sits and listens for a little bit, then nudges Mira. "Dance with me?"
he asks her smoothly.

He gets up, goes to the surround sound machine, and turns it on. He slips
in a dance CD and the music begins. He comes back and holds out his hand
for her.

She takes his hand and lets him lead her to a clear area and moves into his
arms easily. She says softly, "This is much better than talking nowhere."

The slower music fills the room drowning out the music from outside.

The pair move across the floor. Mira is very small and Woof can easily
look over her head as he takes her in his arms.

"That is a great idea, Woof! We're here to have fun."

Shawn rose to his feet and bowed to Jez.

"Will you dance with me?"

Kelly drains his glass and stands up. "If you can't fight them.." He
walks over to April and Ilane. He stops in front of them; his spine
straightens and they almost hear his heels click together. "April,
would you care to dance with a washed up spacer?"

April smiles and chuckles. "As long as you don't mind your partner being a
singer/musician who doesn't dance very well." She takes his arm to head to the
dance floor.

OOC: It's not dead! Shawn wants to have fun, too! Summarize, if you must,
but don't just let him have been rejected.

"That's for sure," he agrees, steering her away from the main group. She feels good in his arms. Truth be told, it's been a long time since he held a woman. She dances well, following his lead. Her head is chin high on him. He bends his head, nose kind of over her hair.

He sniffs. "What is that? Are you wearing a perfume? Or is it your shampoo?"

There is a slight hitch at one point and Woof says, "You must think I'm the
most gullible guy in the world!" Woof blushes as he holds her, looking
down at her. "I hadn't thought I smelled it before, though..." He
ponders, "Come to think of it, I've smelled 'just you' before, after
whipping that tush of yours on the court!" He playfully puts a finger into
her ribs as he dances with her.

"You are not gullible. It could have been. And I don't know, do you know

"You learn to appreciate little things you and I take for granted. Like
privacy. You know your friend Lessa? Let's just say newsies become a
necessary evil. And sometimes they become so invasive you don't feel like
you have a life. And being able to kick back and put your feet up and munch
on candy coated pop corn and watch a movie with some friends. Except your
friends all want a signed copy of your latest album and to know what that
hunk rock star you're reputedly dating is really like. And want to get in
pictures newsies take of you and *everyone* tries to sing with you and show
off how good they are and maybe they could sing on stage with you or
something sometime."

She flushes, "I'm sorry. But you asked."

"And all I could see all the time was how badly she just wanted to be able
to just be herself sometimes and not have to deal with it. But only when
she thought no one was looking. She handled it all with this natural grace
and dignity and poise that I have always envied. I have too much temper, I
think, to put up with what she did. At least not the way she did. That air
she has was never something coached or a media build. It is real from her
heart out."

She tries to relax and follow his lead. April's smile lights up. "I'm almost

Kelly manages to find his way around the dance floor, but he isn't a
very good dancer. "The more people we have, the better, I think. Uncle
Akus", he smiles, "seems to have had enough offspring to ensure a good

Aprils laughs softly, "Yes it appears that way. I do have to admit I'm both
nervous and excited at the prospect of working on the Mae Lee. Has anyone
looked into tracing all of our lineages to Uncle Akus? I'm curious as to

something but hesitiates. After a moment she says, "I'm from Argent. So what

Cory watches as the back room is changed to a dance floor then stands and
turns to llane "Would you care to cut a rug?" he asks. Then adds with a look

Ilane smiles. "Yes, of course Cory, and I *promise* to keep it slow..." She
follows him out to the dance floor, and starts to dance with him.

Even though she chooses an easy and slow dance step for Cory's sake, it quickly
becomes obvious that Ilane is an excellent dancer [Dance-4] and that she's
*very* graceful and light on her feet [DEX-E]. She's also good company, and is
more than willing to engage in a bit of conversation. She asks with a
smile, "Where are you orginally from, Cory?"

Kelly smiles gently at her. "Sorry about that. There have been better
days than the ones I had on Shaw." He seems to be catching on to the
dancing - he is moving to the beat more naturally now. "My ships, hm?
Well, there's been several, actually. The last one was the Confed Navy

OOG - My dads a sailor, loves to race and all that sort of stuff. He's done
the Victoria to Maui race twice and he had a change to do the SanFran to
Sidney race this year but couldn't get the time off work... So he's
retiring and saying I'll sail where I want when I want.

I used to sail all the time, navigation was my thing loved it and helming...
But that was years ago.
