Kelly and April finish their dinner and talk and he escorts her back to Mama Kent's Boarding House. The walk doesn't take long and the streets are still teeming with pedestrians out and about in the entertainment district. April makes her good nights to Kelly in the lobby and heads upstairs. She opens the door to her suite and sees that Ilane has already gone to bed and is sound asleep. Kelly leaves the boarding house and walks back to the ship. As he strolls along he catches himself whistling a cheerful tune. For some reason he is feeling chipper tonight, optimistic about the future. Back at the ship he finds that everyone has already turned in and locked up, but he has the access codes to let himself in. Instead of entering the main lock he enters the aft lock into Engineering. Not feeling like going to bed immediately, Kelly walks around the two aft Engineering decks thinking about the system checks he wants to run while in port: power, fuel, maneuver drive, jump drive and jump grid, electricity, gravitics, life support, sensors, communications, and the computer all should be given a check. It wouldn't hurt to go over the hull looking for any problems there, too, the ship wasn't built to deal with the sort of stresses it was under during that hurricane on Segui. Kelly fired up the terminal in Engineering and made a few notes. There was no way he was going to get all that done by himself, and besides he shouldn't have to. He really should talk to Ricardo tomorrow morning at breakfast about it and spread the work out across *all* of the crew with technical training...especially the two new people. It would give him a chance to evaluate how skilled they were. Then with a contented sigh, he saved his notes and switched the terminal off. Better get some shut eye, so he could catch Ricardo early tomorrow... ...aboard the Mae Lee all quieted down as the crew aboard all slept and the automatic systems ticked away. Morning would come soon enough. Eris AKU GM
