After gathering up supplies at the Park store, Kelly walks off into the wilderness. He is soon alone walking along a narrow trail with tall trees on either side. Four hour's walk later, through forest and field, up hill and down, he comes to a small meadow bordering a stream, butterflies flit from brightly colored flower to flower in the meadow, and Kelly can hear the songs of birds in the trees around him. Across the stream, he can see a pair of four legged beasts drinking from the water. The beasts each stand about a meter and a half high. As he watches them, one raises it's head and Kelly sees that it has one long, sharp looking, horn. It snorts, causing the other to look up, and with a toss of their heads they turn to retreat back into the forest. As they bound off, Kelly sees their brown hides are marked with bright silver and white streaks and their manes are also white, or silver, and fly around them as they trot away. Eris AKU GM

Kelly takes a couple of still pictures of the retreating animals. He consults his map, again, to see how far his chosen camping area is. "Damn." he mutters softly. It's been too long, old man, he thinks. Reaching to his belt, he slips the camera back into its holder, drinks from his water bottle, then resumes the hike to the campsite. JR

From his map, Kelly notes that he is to turn north at this stream and follow a trail up another 2 kilometers. There is a small lake with a campsite beside it marked on the map. The trail next to the stream grows steep and rocky as the stream changes from broad and placid to faster and roiling. Ahead he hears a splashing roar, and then when he rounds a large rock on the trail sees a very small waterfall...only 2 meters or so high. The water is crashing down from it to the stream below. The trail leads next to it and then up to a level above his head. As Kelly tops the hill he sees a small lake spreading out before him. The lake is filled with light blue water and looks to be 200 to 300 meters across and just about that long. A curl of smoke comes up from beyond some trees next to the lake. It looks like another camper has found this site as well. Eris AKU GM

He gives the other campsite a wide berth as he searches for a reasonably secluded place to camp for the night - or maybe a couple of nights if the fishing is good. JR

Kelly finds a site across the lake from the other camper and settles in. The fishing is good that afternoon, and so are the fish he catches when he eats them for his dinner. During the night he hears talking and laughter from across the small lake before he falls asleep. The next morning, the other campers seem to have moved on as it is quiet all around the lake now. Kelly will leave the area with time enough to be back aboard ship at whatever time he is supposed to report. Until then, he plans to explore the area in the vicinity of his camp and generally "commune with nature". JR

There are a few other hikers who come through, even a few that camp next to the small lake, but none bother Kelly and he is able to totally relax and forget about everything for a while. Eris AKU
