It is just after 1230 when Lysia wheels the big land yacht into the
parking lot at Charlies. There are a number of ground vehicles and grav
cars parked in the lot next the large ramshackled looking building on a
low cliff overlooking the beaches below.

Once up close you discover the ramshackled appearance is just that, an
appearance, and inside you see that the motif of old, slow and casual
has been maintained. You are escorted to a table next to large windows
overlooking the narrow white sanded beaches and the blue waters of the
bay beyond.

From your table you can see a large freighter sailing slowly across the
bay toward the ports of Mark City as well as what look like several
white hulled fishing boats slowing trawling across the waters of the
bay. Looking down you see there are several people sunning on the beach
and a few swimming in the shallow waters near shore.

"Nice place."

Shawn looked over the menu and decided on something that looked interesting.

Ilane smiles as she looks out at the fishing boats. "Yes, it is. It's
lovely..."

The tall woman did the same. :)

Everyone orders and the food is delivered. You enjoy a long leisurely
lunch of seafood, pasta, and the wine is especially good. It is well
past 1400 before you leave Charlies and continue your journey back
through Mark City and up the coast to Wytch's Cross.

Lysia pulls the land cruiser into the front drive of the Imperial at
about 1600 and a valet jumps in and drives her around to the parking
lot. Lysia suggests that you get rooms here, then hit the stores on the
boardwalk up and down the beach. Later, you can sample food at any of
several restaurants, dance in various clubs, and even try your hand at
gambling in the casinos.

OOC: Okay, you're going shopping, you have a couple of game hours...so
what do you buy?

Shawn will gallantly offer to escort the ladies and carry the spoils. They will notice he pays
particular attention to various pieces of painting. He will be much more interested than the general
shopping in some stores and does speak with a clerk in one and slip him his card, though he has
nothing in hand when he leaves the store.

Deciding to be a little bold (and not really having a choice since "Vargr"
colors are in this year), Ilane picks out a nice fuchsia mini dress with a lace
fringe cut about an inch above the knee, matching undergarments, matching shoes
with 2 inch high heels, tan stockings and a little beaded purse that matches
the dress. Also, she buys a blue cocktail dress with matching flats and a
large blue purse. She finishes her little buying spree with a dramatic, long
black fur, again conforming the "Vargr" style. She'd prefer a natural fur, but
would opt for a synthetic one instead if she can't afford it. If feasible,
she'll put on the fuchsia outfit and the fur in the boutique to avoid having to
change later.

[PTGM: How much did she spend? After spending the money for the little jaunt
out to the asteroid base, Ilane still has cr14280 plus whatever she got for
selling her TAS mid-passage the other day.]

While they all walk, Shawn will pass on all the gory details of the crew since they started working
together. He mentioned all the interesting clues they had found along the way as well.

OOC: You want to fill this in Eris? I think we can all use a memory jog after all this real time.

He also stopped Varg'r merchants they bought from and asked if they could translate the card they
had found.

Ilane is delighted at Lysia's gift, which turns out to be a amethyst and silver
anklet that she'd been looking at earlier.

April nods in agreement. "It seems a nice place to take a holiday."
She chooses something simple and light to eat with coffee.

April seems to really enjoy the little shopping excursion, laughing and joking
as they go along.

April is quite surprised and touched by Lysia's gesture. She gives her a very
warm embrace and says, "Thank you very much, this is very kind of you. It's
absolutely lovely. I adore dragonflys, actually." Lysia's gift to her is a
small silver and cloisonne dragonfly pin. April had admired it and spend some
time mentally debating over purchasing it but had not trying to save her
credits. The others would notice as they shopped she spent some time on animal
prints, one of her favorites.

A pic of the dragonfly can be found at:

"Very very deco, if I didn't already have a dragonfly somewhere in my
vintage collection I'd have chosen something like it myself. You just can
not beat the classics, there are certian things that never go out of style."

"I picked up on that whole deco, neuvo thing from my mother. She was
absolutely mad about the stuff. She had this summer house up in the
mountians, I'm certian that Morgana held on to it inspite of the fact that
she hated the place. It was brilliant, deco geometry done like an aztec or
mayan temple and windows like you would not believe, two porches that looked
out over a crystal lake and up at this massive snow covered mountian
beyond."

Lysia grins, "Morg always thought she was going to be sacrificed to the gods
or something up there, I guess that's why she would never go up there after
she turned fifteen. We were coming back from there when my parents were
killed."

Lysia stops talking for a moment, "It was a lovely trip, the snow was like
powdered sugar and is sparkled like cut diamonds."

> > When it's all over with she seems to be a bit more like her self and
> > considerably happier.

"I always loved that house, Doctor Shadbolts place, it's a heritage place."
Lysia chuckles, "Morg, can't even repaint the interior without government
permission."

April smiles and nods. She thinks to herself about her last trip to Mark, it
certainly didn't qualify as a holiday. She chuckles a bit at the thought.

"That sounds quite magnificent. Oh, my
folks were quite boring as far as decorating was concerned. Small but spacious
home favoring the minimalist style. You know basic black and white, very clean
lines and spaces. I was never really comfortable until Mother allowed me to
redo my bedroom as a birthday present. I redid it in all florals,
through in as much color as I could manage, chose some ornate wooden furniture
pieces for the bedroom you know, armoire, night stands, dresser and canopy.
She was horrified but true to her word." April winks.

April smiles but stays quiet. Her first instinct was to ask whether or not
Lysia had been to the mountains since the accident but this was not the time.
They had taken this sojourn to lift her spirits and since it was working
April's curiousity would have to wait.

"And why is that? Just because its a historical place?" April asks.

April's grin grows wider and she says, "Oh my taste more eclectic, a mixture of
old and new really. I just went for the most ornate and cluttered look I could
to annoy Mother and to bring some personality into an otherwise bare home. Ohh
did it work, as soon as I left home the room was redone and all the furniture
put in storage for me."

OOG - I know I mentioned who trained me before but I lost all those old emails when my hard drive took a nose dive.

"Madame (?)'s right here on Mark, it was a little bit of this and a little bit of that. I did a stint with a band as a backup singer and dancer. Worked a couple of musicals mostly in the danceline or chorus. I wanted to get by because I was good not because I was a David."

OOG - Catching up here been rather busy of late.

Lysia looks at Shawn as he looks for a Vargr merchant, "I can translate that
most likely you know, speak pretty fluently, little Markian accent but I'm
pretty capable. Vargr, Zeristu to name a couple."

Lysia looks at the card. Yes, it appears to be a vargr script, but the
character groupings don't seem make sense and there are some characters
that are shaped differently than she's ever seen. Lysia thinks she can
pick out two words..."the" and "and", and there is a string of
characters that she thinks are numbers. One that appears twice is
probably a 0 and this other character has to be a 1, but she can't be
sure about the others.

OOC: It's like trying to read a foreign language you don't know and that
uses a slightly different alphabet, something like an English reader
seeing German....or Polish. It's something *like* the vargr you know,
but not quite, and you can't pick out any meaning. Of course, it could
also be coded in some way, too.

Lysia puzzles over the card for a bit, "Well this is 'the' and that's 'and',
there's a string of numbers here, or if they're not they're really very
close to numbers, couple of zero's and a one something in between them
though."

"Okay maybe I can't read that one, it's vargr but it's either really old or
maybe encoded. Hard to say, let Wolfgang and Ukanav take a crack at it,
maybe they can make out some of the characters I don't understand."

Shawn nodded.

"Actually, old fits with a theory I have. Public isn't the place for that subject but I'll be happy
to mention it later. Thanks." Shawn took back the card and put it safely away.

Lysia is true to her nature and shops like there is no tomorrow, a half
dozen pairs of shoes, three very expensive silk suits and dresses later.
She heads into a classic jewelry store called the "Blue Waters" and buys a
hand full of deco style necklaces, bracelets and broaches.

She pays particular attention to the buying styles of her guests and
purchases each of them something that she feels has caught their eyes at one
time or another during the evening.

When it's all over with she seems to be a bit more like her self and
considerably happier.

Lysia looks at Shawn very seriously. "I trained to be a professional dancer years ago, and I don't mean the kind with brass poles and showers. Mother wanted me to be a singer like her but I wanted to dance."
