"Great!" Jac says with a smile. He stands up and pulls Mira's chair back for her, "After you." The pair walk back out and down the stairs, passing a few people coming up to Carlissimo's. Jac and Mira stroll along the well lighted sidewalks through the old city. Jac points out University Halls and entrances to "quads" which would be empty this time of night, but would be teeming with students during the day. They stop at a sidewalk stand and buy a sweet pastry called a spolato that is served wrapped in crispy white paper and large stryrofoam cups of steaming coffee. The spolato is a spiral pastry and tastes of sugar and sweet fruits. There is a creamy center inside the coils of dough that has a slightly milky taste. The coils are segmented and can be pinched off, or bitten off, allowing for small bite sized pieces to be eaten. Sipping the coffee and eating small pieces of the spolato allows the pair to continue to stroll along, chat and enjoy their dessert. Leaving the lighted streets, Jac leads Mira into a park. The couple stroll along a gravel path in the park, past a small pond then past a large open field where people play and picnic during the day. By this time they have finished their dessert and drop the empty cups and paper wrappings into wastebaskets at the edge of the park. On the otherside of the park, you emerge just across from a large gothic Cathedral. There are lights inside, it appears a service of some sort is going on. You can hear the faint sounds of organ music coming from inside. On the street outside there are several cars parked, including a taxi. "Do you want to go in and listen?" Jac asks. Eris AKU

Jac takes a white handkerchief from his pocket and shakes it out, then hands it to Mira, "Will this do?" The handkerchief is crisp and clean and large enough to fold diagonally and where like a scarf. It isn't quite long enough to tie under your chin, though, maybe if you use pins you could attach it to your hair. Eris AKU GM

She quickly fastens the handkerchief in place. "Thank you," Mira replies. She takes his arm again and lets him lead her to wherever he wishes to sit. Mira

This is an old church built in the gothic style with many stone columns and arcs joining the columns. The alter at the front of the church has a backdrop of golden curtains behind a trio of stone statues...an older man, his arms outspread in welcome is flanked by a younger man on the right and woman on the left. To the left there is a pulpit where a priest in robes is chanting, this forms an undertone to the organ music that fills the chamber. To the right there is a larger, though currently empty, area for a choir. Mira can't actually see the organ when she looks around. There are only a few worshipers in the church for the midnight mass, and almost all of them are up close to the alter praying and listening to the priest's chant. A few people are back here in the back and most of them appear to be hear mostly to listen to the music. Eris AKU GM

After what seems like a long time, Mira feels Jac gently shaking her shoulder, and she realizes that she had drifted off to sleep. He whispers in her ear, "Mira, I think we need to return to the ship, now." It takes a second for it to register, but Jac's voice sounds worried. Eris AKU GM

"Not here." Jac whispers frowning slightly, "At the ship." Outside he waves at a cab and opens the door for Mira when it stops. To the cabbie he says, "To the starport, please, and step on it." The cabbie chuckles and says, "Sure thing, Si!" The cab pulls out and once out of the old city and onto the almost empty freeways accelerates. Jac sits quietly in the back with Mira. Eris AKU GM

As the cab pulls up to the ship, you see a cab pulling away. Under his breath Jac mutters, "Damn! He did it." then shakes his head and sighs. Jac pays the cabbie and walks quickly up the gangway to the hatch and keys in the security code. When he pulls the hatch open you see Woof standing next to a red haired woman. He is carrying an overnight bag and she has a briefcase. You see her step back almost putting Woof between herself and you. "I was afraid you were going to bring her here." Jac says to Woof. "Um..."she seems to think about it a minute then says with a surprised tone, "Yes, yes, I am. I haven't thought about food..." She seems to freeze up as she stops and grips one of her hands into a fist between her breasts. Her expression gets a far off haunted look. Mira has seen such faces in trauma units and emergency rooms, shock. Mira notices that both of Lessa's hands are wrapped in white gauze. The gauze wraps around her knuckles and palms, and there are spots of pink seeping through the bandage on the one she is holding up to her chest. Eris AKU GM
