Arvitis comes wandering down the corridor yawning. He is wearing a thin robe that is too small for him. The robe's sleeves only go to mid forearm and the bottom of the robe is just above his bare knees. Seeing Ricardo and Cory looking at the screen in the Crew's Commons he stops and says, "Couldn't sleep either?" "What'ch looking at? Some sort of cop show?" he asks as he peers at the screen scratching his ribs. Eris AKU GM

Arvitis looks blank for a second and then a light comes into his eyes and he laughs, "No, *really*...what's going on?" As Arivitis takes about them, Ricardo remembers that he *has* heard a bit about them, a group with religious objections to high technology, mainly subsistance farmers or low-tech worlds, clannish, don't mix with the rest of society...that's about it. Ricardo's work with the Scouts and in the war never brought him into contact with this particular sect, but he has run across groups with similar philosophies before. Eris AKU GM

Arvitis shrugs, "Yeah, probably. But you know the folks here don't seem too picky about what you import or export. Did any custom agents check our cargo when we went to Mark, or when we came back?" Ricardo thinks..."hmmm...best we not tell Lessa that little bit of folklore right away. On the one hand, if true, it increases the chance of the kid still being alive. On the other hand, it's sure a good way for a kid to vanish forever." Ricardo shakes his head. "I don't know if I buy it. These people showed zero compunction about murdering people until now, it's unlikely they'd let a mere child stymie them. "They'll need to prove to Lessa that her child is alive to ensure future cooperation unless their aim is to cut their losses and run. That leaves two possibilities that I see: first, if the Hootish connection is real the bad guy will know how to get in contact with the family again. They've got to, to be able to leverage Lessa into keeping quiet. The second, is that those were mere disguises. In that case, I fear the first thing they'll do when they hit deep space is to space her." He rubs his forehead. "Hooters aren't going to be too common around here, that's one avenue of inquiry.
