Mazie smiles slightly and says, "Mark has the same
suspicions about Burke, although I didn't tell you that."
"So, now, perhaps we have the third party in this
story...the Zeristu Empire." Mazie says, "In the form of one
of their intelligence services, I'm sure."
"Zeristu trying to claim the /Mae Lee/ after Akus' death.
Zeristu...um, unknown agents trying to steal the /Mae Lee/
when the claim was thrown out of court." Jac says, "They
were after that tape, don't you think?"
Mazie nods and asks Ricardo, "I do hope you are intending to
turn that over to me now that I've seen it aren't you?"
She turns to Lessa and says, "I won't intentionally
compromise your daughter's position, Sianna Kramer, but I
want your information as well. I can use it to start to
ferret out the traitors in our midst."
Lessa frowns, but says, "I understand, but Lady Ryobi, I
think there are already some people in the police, even
security that are compromised and if any of *them* get wind
that I've helped you my daughter will be killed."
"I'll just have to be careful, then." Mazie smiles and
reaches out to pat Lessa on the arm, "Now that I know what
to look for, I can use what you give me to build my own
leads without exposing your involvement."
"But, now, *about* finding your daughter." Mazie turns to
the others and leaning forward she says, "Anything that is
done in that realm had better be unofficial and private, I
think. I can make sure that the police and Space Patrol
don't look too closely at the /Mae Lee/ and who's aboard
her, but if my people start fishing around for what ships
launched with a Hootish couple aboard yesterday, or even
what Hootish couples have left the planet recently somebody
we don't want to notice might notice. And while you are at
it, perhaps, you can find out who is behind those meetings,
I'm guessing the Zeristu, but I'd like to know for sure, and
to know *what* is going on."
She stops and sits back, "That is assuming that you are
*willing* to undertake the task of helping Sianna Kramer
find her daughter."
She stops again and looks around, "Are you?"
