997.274.1800: Preparing for Flight

Ricardo and Shawn work on the flight plans and the jump plots on the
bridge. The flight plan out to the jump point isn't hard, and although
the jump plot isn't *hard* it is time consuming. Shawn gets finished
first and looks over Ricardo's shoulder as he works. Arvitis is also on
the bridge sitting at a station reading from an old leather bound
notebook and occasionally making notes of his own in his own notebook.

Kelly has Engineering ready to go and the fuel is processing. He and
April are puttering around in Engineering waiting to hear when the ship
is going to lift.

Woof takes a doublecheck on the the cargo. It's all there, including a
pile of junk that he doesn't remember being there. There is also a
ground vehicle parked in the cargo bay. It hasn't been locked down with
restraints of any kind, and it needs to either be removed or secured. As
he's looking these two unsecured pieces of cargo over he hears a truck
pull up outside and after some loud talk, he sees Cory pushing a pallet
of boxes in through the forward cargo hatch.

Jac has left the ship, "on an errand", "ship's business" he calls it.

Ilane and Ukanav are off duty, seated in the crew lounge watching a live
feed of video off Mark TV. Lessa has come out of her cabin and is also
there.

He has her seated next to him at the main engineering console. He is
talking to her about his days in the Navy, and telling some of the
lower deck stories he's picked up over the years.

April listens attentively to his stories, and then asks questions about the
console. She exchanges some BB embarassing moment stories.

As this was commed to the ship and not Ricardo personally I'll assume I can hear it.

Upstairs in the lounge Lysia hops to her feet and runs for her quarters.

"Crap crap. Stupid dumb stupid."

Where she retreives the key and locker card for the car, before pelting downstairs as fast as she can. (She got it from a storage space if I remember right.)

Lysia bursts into the cargo hold as Woof and Cory go to work on the "Junk Pile". She's still wearing the same red kerchief over her hair and Mitch's grubby coveralls. The covies are partially unzipped and she's got a black shirt on under them.

"You didn't block the car in did you?" She pants, clearly she's run down from upstairs somewhere. "I forgot all about it and Morgana will have my ass if I take it."

She catches her breath quickly. "I should see what else she has stashed in storage, maybe she's got a motorcycle, that'd be better for me than flying." Lysia says to no one in particular.

"Anyone up for a quick ride across the starport?" She spins the keys and storage card around her finger.

"Excellent," Lysia grins, "climb in, belt up, and hold on."

"Back in a few," she says to Cory as she hops into the car, "try not to leave without us."

Lysia turns the key and the engine roars to life, she smiles as the throb of eight gas powered cylinders fills the cargo hold. "I'm going to miss this."

She pulls the car out of the hold slowly turns towards the storage yard and brings it to a complete stop. "How long have you been in space Wolfgang? Was it something you always wanted to do, or was it a move of necessity?"

Lysia stands on the brakes and revs the engine a bit, the vehicle torques up a bit but doesn't move more than a few centimeters. She grins a bit before matting the gas pedal and lighting the tires up for a few seconds before releasing the brakes. The large steel vehicle launches across the starport towards the gates pressing you back into your seat.

Lysia takes a seat, still dressed in Mitch's coverall's, she's still got
some large grease smudges on her face.

"What's on?" She asks pulling a rag out of her pocket and wiping her hands
off, "Anything exciting?"

Having finished stowing the new med and life support supplies, Mira is
busily settling into Jac's stateroom, setting up the bonsai display with
its grow light and mister, moving in her clothes and deciding just where to

"It" is a large open topped land vehicle, pink in color, with large non
functional tail fins. You think it is locally called a caddie
convertable..or something like that.

Woof comms the ship. "I have a ground car in forward cargo. Is it coming
or staying? I'm dogging it down if its coming. Skipper?"

As Woof waits for an answer, he examines the other pile of junk.

boxes. "What's this stuff?" he asks as he begins to secure it with netting.

Cory gets a surprised look on his face when Woof answers his question with a
question. He shakes his head once to clear it, then begins his list "Copies
of tax records, computers for imaging work, a set of speakers to replace
those that sound so nasty in the crew lounge, imaging software, cameras with

Cory finishes lashing down his items then inspects the cargo bay to see what
needs to be moved so he'll still have a place to play his music away from
everyone else because if Woof or Lysia are any indication there is still way
to much stress flying around. Maybe if he sneaks in and just moves Mira's
stuff into Jacs room she'll take the hint. "Hmm, Maybe not her stuff just
that tree" he muses to himself as he finishes up and heads to the crew deck.
"Or maybe the problem is Jac's to far from sick-bay. Maybe I should talk to
him. Now Woof he's on his own. I don't know how to get that stress out of
here. I wonder if Shawn hooked up with anyone. Boy he sure did need it. I
wonder if Ricky would object to prostitutes for some of our more hot headed
crew. Hmm I'll have to think more about how I want to bring that one up."

oog - I'm assuming this should be ("Who?" Cory ask Woof.)

"Morgana, my sister, the Wicked Witch of the East. She's a total pack rat when it comes to things of value, if there's a chance it might be worth something in ten years she dumps it into a storage facility, covers it with a tarp and lets it rott there for a decade."

Lysia sudders, "It's kind of creepy actually, like some sort of ghost house with all the furnature covered in white sheets. I'm almost afraid to ask what's under half of them but like I said maybe she's got a motorcycle in there, fingers crossed."

"She had this brilliant Manic Valkyre, Cafe Racer, bright red and black." She stops suddenly, "I'm babbling, don't mind me." She wipes her hands one last time on Mitch's coveralls before vanishing into the evening with Wolfgang.

"There is," Lysia says with a wink, "a *lot* of good memories in this car."

"Speaking of which how's your lady friend Sianna Kramer holding up?" Lysia sounds genuinely concerned, which strikes you as odd given the obvious distain in her voice when she found out Lessa was a reporter. "Please tell me you had the good sence to be a friend and be there and not just 'take one for the team.'"

"I always wanted to follow my dad and be an actress or a dancer," she sighs, "it just wasn't ment to be thought. I could probably still do it, I've got the looks and the drive but the fates weren't willing I guess."

"Do you like space?" She asks. "I always found it frighteningly vast, it's quite humbling to stand on the hull of a starship and gaze upon the face of eternity."

Lysia chuckles, "Just try to keep your head inside the vehicle."

They roar quickly across the starport and slow quickly before the gate, Lysia produces her pass card to the guard before heading to the storage facility.

Lysia smiles, "Wolfgang you are a gentleman and a scholar. Right now she's
feeling vulnerable, helpless and alone, taking advantage of that situation
for your own ends would just be wrong."

She rolls her eyes, "The great smiling buddah knows with the human
trampolines there's more than enough going on aboard that ship without you
adding to it."

"Morgana?" Lysia smirks a little, "Yes she's the sole star in the David
family now. She'd probably have a kitten if there was another David to
fight for the spotlight with."

> >"Do you like space?" She asks. "I always found it frighteningly vast,

Lysia nods.

"I left in an attempt to find myself. I reasoned, falsely of course, that
myself probably wasn't looking for me so I'd better go looking for it. I
was young, foolish and just trying to be a big fish in a big pond, I thought
I'd find adventure and romance. At the very least I thought I'd find an
easy way to end my miserable life that didn't involve me doing it myself."
She smirks a little, "I'd tried pills, and slitting my wrists but I was a
bit of a failure at that too. Never could do anything right without
Morgana's help."

Lysia shrugs, "Anyways, instead of finding any of those things I found a
place where hell had crossed into our world and a desire to keep living. I
saw to much death in that place to want to go there myself."

"After I came back from there, fifteen months, fifty some odd surgeries and
three psychiatrists later I went to Segui in yet another attempt to find
myself and you know what happened after that."

She pulls the car into the storage area. "Watch the door," Lysia says with
a smile, "scratching the paint on this thing is worth more than your life
I'll bet."

"Now where was that place she had it stored." She drives around looking for
the right building.

Lysia rolls her eyes, "No kidding, we have a word on Mark for women
who haven't even had the time to unpack in their own cabin before moving
into someone elses. Skanks."

"If I can smell the" "funkyness" "in the atmosphere it
must be damn near unbareable for you." She adds wrinkling her nose.

"Lysia's rules for survival number eight, never sleep with someone
you work with. It's always awkward when the relationship goes to shit,
which it invariably does, and you have to see that person every
day." She shakes her head and grins just a little, "Personal
experience there, don't ask."

OOC: Yep and I'm sure calling other crew members skanks to a crewman, that certainly wouldn't cause
any hard feelings if it ever got out. That's much more professional.

As a player who is currently in another game where such derogatory
comments are causing problems, I am rather disappointed. I thought that
perhaps there would be one game where a party of players portraying their
characters could work towards a common goal without petty quarreling,
underbiting, and back stabbing each other in character. Perhaps I am looking
for the impossible. Hope

ooc - Clearly appologies are in order. I thought long and hard about this
letter before I sent it but given the nature of the conversation and the
character who was to deliver it it seemed reasonable. Clearly I have
overstepped my bounds.

OOC: Yeah, I'd say you have. Once could be ignored, twice is a step too
far. Now, I'm sure *you* don't have any malice in your heart, and
frankly, I doubt Lysia does either, she's just being Lysia, but let's
try to be a little more careful with what we have our character's say.

Apology accepted and for the record, I *never* thought you meant it as a
personal commentary on either pc. I will just add one more point. As players
we aid the GM in creating the story and we have responsibility to the GM and to
the story itself. Although our PC's are individual identities within the
story, we need to extend some degree of control in their actions in order to
preserve game and party integrity. Yes Lysia may have made one small comment
in Vargr, where no one speaks it but them, however, one small comment can get
out of hand quite quickly or lead to other comments. But that is only my
viewpoint. Thank you for listening. Hope

Ukanav wouldn't let something like that out, him and Lysia go back a
few years and he knows what's private is private. Lysia my act the wild
child and do plenty of outrageous things but inside she's very conservative
due to her up bringing, the joys of a childhood of privilage.

I would never let something that someone said destroy party unity the party
and the goals of the party are always paramont to anything else. Besides
there's a little kid involved and that just burns my ass. I would expect
the same kind of consideration from everyone else. I can understand that
most of you are involved in a game, no names mention *cough MO cough* where
there's that kind of waspish backstabbing going on all the time but this
isn't that game and after all this time how many times has the line even
appeared in this game? Besides who got stuck with Geo??? You all deserve
at least one or two more good shots before that whole thing comes out even
and if any of you men start to cry I'm breaking out the belt and I'll make
sure you have something to cry about.

Derek pulls back on his Lysia mask points back to the Sound Stage number 8
where the Mae Lee set is constructed, "Now I think that the director is
about to fire all of our backsides if we don't get back to work and try not
to hit your heads on the mic again."

Instead of watching TV, Ilane is "hitting the books", studying engineering from
one of the several unoccupied bridge workstations so that she can earn her

[OOC: She doesn't really like TV, and she's studying on the bridge so that she
