After doing the calculations and double checking them against each other. Ricardo and Shawn are satisfied that they are ready to get a lift time. Ricardo comms the tower and makes arrangements. The /Mae Lee/ can lift at 2105 tonight. Lysia stores the auto while Woof looks around in the warehouse, for it isn't a storage locker, it's a full fledged warehouse with stacks of boxes and crates, six vehicles of various sizes covered with canvas and plastic, and piles and piles of furniture and furnishings. Everything appears to be neatly stacked, or stored, and there is a grid of codes painted on walls and support pillars that could be used to locate anything stored here. Woof suspects everything in here is cataloged and in its proper place, too. After Lysia covers her convertible, she and Woof leave the warehouse locking the door behind them and head back to the ship. Jac has returned to the ship with a briefcase filled with cash that he stores in the ship's safe. He greets Mira in their cabin with a kiss and a hug. Cory spends his evening moving the entertainment system, imaging software,as well as the records upstairs where he stores them on the currently empty passenger deck. As the time nears 2100 everyone is getting into their places. Arvitis, Ricardo, Ilane, and Shawn are on the bridge. Kelly and April are in Engineering. "/Mae Lee/, this is Mark Starport Tower, you are cleared for roll out and launch. Have a good trip." The ship rolls out onto the tarmac and lifts smoothly into the sky, angling up as it builds velocity into orbit around Mark. One orbit and you are given the go to insert the ship onto the vector for your run out to the jump limit. Ricardo obeys the Mark velocity laws as the ship heads out. It will take four hours to get out to the jump point at legal velocity, and he could cut that in half, if he cranked the stutterjump drive up to max, but he'd also be facing, at least, a huge fine next time the ship came back to Mark if he does, so he keeps the speed down to the legal limit. Arivitis says, " I'm watching the scopes, but there's nobody near us and it doesn't look like anyone is vectoring in our direction, Ricardo. We should be clear all the way out to jump." Eris AKU GM

Lysia's not big on flying in the Walk and a motorcycle will give her a little freedom on foreign world that won't involve renting a car or even bringing a great bloody land yacht of a car with them. I mean she realizes statistically that grav vehicles are the safest method of transportation but once bitten twice shy. So if we can lift a bike two helmets and a couple of jackets and pants. These motorcycle jackets are like body armor now. Reinfoced shoulders, elbows, back support. If we can we will and we'll leave a note for Morgana. Borrowing the bike, bring it back in one peice. Have fun. Lysia. The glaser is a gravity focused laser. The laser pulse rides inside a generated gravity wave that forms a tube around the laser pulse. The gravity wave, quite literally, forms a pucker or fold in space allowing the laser pulse to move from its source to the limit of the fold almost instantly. This is required, because the targets are moving at pseudo velocities of 2 to 6 thousand kilometers per second, and often jinking madly at the same time. Each glaser has a maximum range where it can keep the laser coherent. When the laser exceeds that range it quickly expands and does little or no damage, but within the glaser's rated range the laser pulse holds its initial shape and does full damage when/if it hits a target. Even though the time it takes for a glazer pulse to reach a target is nearly instantaneous there is still enough time for a stutterjumping target to make most shots miss. The Gunnery computer program can track targets, but it tends to miss a lot more than when a skilled gunner adds her anticipation and instincts to the mix. > TGM - We'll let Eris decide if I'm a hopeless case or any good at > this. Shawn sets the simulations to run at the beginner level... Lysia finds the first few simple sims to be pretty easy. However as the sims grow a bet harder, with the ship changing vectors and speeds, and then starting to jink around as they move she starts to sweat a little, but she is still hitting the targets at a percentage rate higher than the computer alone, then it gets faster and she starts missing badly, losing sight of the target by rolling the trackball too slowly or too fast or pressing the wrong foot pedal, and then trying to over compensate. ...Lysia will certainly be able to pick this up, but it is going to take a lot of practice before her body really gets the feel of the motions and her brain internalizes them. "It's not bad once you learn the details. You'll pick it up better than me, I'm sure." > After about forty minutes Lysia looks at her watch, her eye's open wide. > "Oh hell! "If Mira can't help, come hunt me down," he shouted after her. Then he shut down the system and made his way to the commons, looking for Ilane. Shawn

Having moved her study area from the bridge to the common area, Ilane looks up from the terminal when Shawn comes in and gives him a big, warm smile. That would help a lot, I bet." OOC: Yes, it really would. It is Easy to pick up a Skill 0, given that you impress the fact that you are studying and working with a trained person in that skill on me...that is, you don't have to impress me, just keep it in my mind that you *are* doing that.Of course, it gets harder and takes longer as you go up in skills. Don't ask for the *rule*, it just harder and takes longer. For example, Ilane could earn Engineering-0 and Lysia could earn Gunnery-0 by the end of this jump, if they apply themselves everyday in both study and practice. However, getting to Skill-1, isn't easy and will take several weeks. Eris AKU GM
