Shawn signs off with the brokers and checks the computer for information about Serbia. The data he has is what he copied over from the /Mae Lee/ so it isn't forty years out of date. The summary is C983687-7 Ni Ri. Not much of a starport, pretty dry, and the gravity might be a bit higher than normal, but the air is breathable. As the /Blue Rain/ approaches the planet Shawn projects its image on the screens of the consoles around the ship. Serbia is a ball of greens, browns and blues. There are few lights on the dark side, and only a few communication satellites in orbit around the planet. Shawn notes that the Starport, in the northern hemisphere, will be in daylight for another 6 hours, and the approach and landing should only take a couple of hours. Permission to land is given and the small ship glides down through the thick atmosphere. Shawn skips in and out of the atmosphere several times as he bleeds off velocity and then starts a long slow descent taking him over the southern landmass the the equatorial ocean and then over wide farm lands with only small villages and isolated farm houses. Finally, he sees a larger town, and the distinctive tower of a landing field. This is the Starport...or what passes for one on Serbia. The landing is smooth with hardly a bounce. After directions are given, Shawn taxis the ship over to the assigned berth. He notes there are a couple of ships already on the tarmac...a 200 tonner and a larger one, probably 400 tons. The sensors show the gravity outside is 1.12 g, the atmosphere is 1.3 sap and the temperature is 18 degrees C. The Port Captain is coming over to greet and inspect your papers in 30 minutes and there are 2 brokers already at the port waiting to talk to you about your cargo. Eris AKU GM

Kelly considers for a moment. "You know," he says to April, "we may want to shut the powerplant down and look it over. It's been without maintenance for a long time." JR

OOC: Shawn, Irene, Kelly and April are all available for this scene. Kelly has shut things down and until he gets started on maintenance of the jump drive has nothing much to do. So, all four of you can greet the Port Captain and the brokers. Captain Paul Mitwell shows up at your hatch exactly 30 minutes after you land. He is a old man, has to be in his late 60's, with a face creased with wrinkles. He is wearing a dark blue baseball cap with the words "Port Captain" printed in white across the front and a short sleeved Hawaiian print shirt and pair of short pants, with sneakers on his feet. He greets Shawn with a smile and a warm handshake. He will also shake hands with each of the crew and welcome you. "Welcome to Serbia, all of you, I'm Paul Mitwell, port captain for our little starport." he grins, "Such as it is." He gives your papers a quick glance, and doesn't seem to any qualms about them. His look at the cargo and manifest is just as cursory, although he does mention that Serbia has a strong policy against the import of addictive drugs and weapons imports are highly regulated. If Kelly mentions the ship's maintenance logs, Mitwell will wave him off saying, "As long as you're happy with your ship's condition, you don't need somebody like me looking over your shoulder." Once he's finished with the very brief inspection Mitwell says, "I hope you enjoy your stay on Serbia and that you come back. We are always looking for more ships to drop in on us. I know we're just a agricultural world, and not a rich one, but we do have produce to sell...or trade for consumer or industrial goods." OOC: Any questions for him, just work them into the conversation... As he is shaking your hand before taking his leave he adds, "Oh, and while you're here you might want to drop by the Hootish enclave down south. They aren't big on technology, but they are very good craftsmen and farmers, and might want to trade with you for certain off-world products." Shawn notes that the /Mae Lee/ is on landing approach as Mitwell is leaving your new ship. When Shawn sees Mitwell from the ship he sees a man and woman standing outside the hatch waiting for Mitwell to leave, he gives them the thumbs up as he passes and they turn toward you. "Captain Smith, I'm Orion Link and this is Joyce Ellis. We're the brokers here on Serbia. May we come aboard and talk?" Eris AKU GM

There is a good bar in the basement, a restaurant on the ground floor and the rooms are clean and not too pricey." Joyce says, "Adrian's is our best chop house, though." Eris AKU GM

"Sounds like a live one. We need to find out about the family and where they went. Kelly and April, you want to handle some casual questions while you walk about? Someone either picked them up or they got a ride somewhere. I want to know where. Ilane, what do you think we can do in the meanwhile?" Shawn

Ilane gives Shawn a secret little smile and then gets more serious and says, "I don't know...maybe we should see if we can secure some cargo for the return trip so that we don't have to worry about it later?" -- Bob K. He smiled back at her. "That might be best, if we have to boost in a hurry," Shawn admitted. "I'll get on that. Why don't you give the other ships here a call and ask news for past ports they've been at? Find out who thier captains are. That will also get me hooked up with my old friend Cardiac O'Brion." At that last, he grinned. Shawn

"Sounds like a plan. We'll also try to find out where the Hootish colony is, while we're at it." April __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Take Yahoo! Mail with you! Do?" Joyce raises her eyebrows, "Well, they keep mostly to themselves down in their colony on the southern continent. Farming, crafts are what they do." "They're a religious sect." Link says, "Reject a lot of modern technology, live the simple life, commune with nature...that sort of thing. If you mean about their children, I don't know, but they all seem really well behaved the few times I've seen any. Except this last one." Eris AKU GM
