Everyone, Last year it was Ivan the Terrible and it looks like this year it's Dennis the Menace that will be coming to call. Makes me dread company! :) I'm sure to lose power here, I just hope I don't lose the roof...or worse...so if you don't hear from me for a few days that will be why. Remember last time power was out here for 2 weeks. Dennis could be just as bad, so...:( IAC, the games will be suspended until after Dennis gets past and I get power back. If you want to chat among yourselves, please do, and if you are so inclined I'm sure everyone down here could use your good thoughts, best wishes, and prayers. Your Friend! Eris Reddoch

Thanks JR! I survived Dennis, but I'd just as soon no more "visitors" show up here for a few years now. :) Eris

FYI, I spoke with Eris' mom a little while ago. Seems that they are indeed without power (standard response, I'm thinking), had a few trees come down (also standard), but had no other damage from the storm. So, keep them in your thoughts and prayers, but don't worry! Blessings on you Eris! It was about 50% in Escambia County just to the west and about 25% in Okaloosa County to the east. I got power back last Thursday night about 9pm, so that wasn't nearly as bad as I feared, but folks, no A/C in 100+ heat index for days on end will kill! The nights never got below 80 and the humidity at night was upper 80's, too, so it was unrelenting day and night. One of our cats died from the heat and Mom wasn't doing very well herself. I was able to get Mom into A/C for a few hours every day: in the car waiting in line for water and ice, just walking around in Walmart (once the power came back there), and eventually at friends houses as they started getting power back. Anyway, I'm back and will now proceed to try to get game posts out. :) Eris
Welcome back to the electric world Speaking as one who also lives on the Hurrican alley. A small generator can't be beat. I have a 2k which runs a window AC. I can stick it on the freezer for an hour every 5 or 6 hours and have ice to use in coolers and I get to do TV or radio and run a few light bulbs. Mine is a honda and it doubles doing the same duty on the boat when I anchor out in the summer. The only problem is the size of the gas tank. It only runs a 6k btu ac for about 6 hours. I fixed the problem by drilling a hole in a spare gas cap and hooking up another tank to it just in case I sleep late.
