"I understand you haven't had a chance to 'make your phone call' yet." he says holding a small cell phone out between the bars. As Lysia takes the phone the officer continues, "Would you be willing to volunteer a DNA sample? If you *aren't* who we have a warrant for, that should clear you." Eris AKU GM

"Lysia David?" asks the tired looking desk sergeant, "Yeah, that's the current alias for a prisoner we have on ice, yeah. You're her *captain*, you say? Let me see your ID, too." He looks at Ricardo's ID, runs it through a scanner next to the terminal at the front desk, and frowns. "Looks legit." he says, sounding disappointed. After running Lysia's ID through he looks even more disappointed, "This *looks* legit, too, but...maybe you'd better talk to one of the detectives. Let me see who's on duty upstairs..." After a short conversation that you can't catch, he closes a security window that separates the lobby from the rest of the station while he talks, he reopens the window and says, "Go upstairs and talk to Detective Stanley. He's pulling the graveyard shift up there." The stairs are just to the right, and Ricardo starts up them. Upstairs he looks around an almost empty squad room. One desk is occupied by a young man. He is talking to another man who is showing him some papers. Ricardo overhears the man who is standing saying to the one who is seated, "I don't care *what* the Chief Inspector said, or who she scammed, DNA doesn't lie!" Eris AKU GM

The standing man turns back to the seated on and says, "I'll leave these copies with you Stan, and I'll run the tests again if you insist, but I've already run them twice, and twice should be enough to convince even the Chief." With that he drops the papers on Stanley's desk and stalks off, passing Ricardo, with the barest of a nod. The seated man stands and says, "I'm Detective Stanley. You're here about the prisoner we're holding, the one calling herself Lysia David?" Eris AKU GM

Sianna David's a crew member of mine, here are her official Mark ID documents. He continues " If, as I overheard, her DNA does not match your missing fugitive's, I expect you'll release her forthwith after examining these documents, which do prove her identity. I believe there is a genetic checksum on there that SHOULD match the samples you've analyzed." He offers the detective her papers. "Grunt." or something like that comes from Detective Stanley's mouth as he takes the papers from Ricardo and starts to go through them...slowly and carefully, then again, and then he runs them through the scanner, goes over them again, and then says, "Take a seat while I have the lab verify these papers and the ID." Stanley stands and exits the room in the direction that the other man exited a few minutes ago leaving Ricardo to cool his heels. An hour later Stanley comes back in and hands Ricardo the papers, "Yeah, they seem to be in order, and it turns out that the person we have down in lockup isn't Maria Virgy after all...a close relative, probably, but not *her*..." With a sigh and a look of deep disappointment he adds, "...so we're going to have let her go." "Come on downstairs with me and I'll give the paperwork to the Desk Sergeant." he says as he heads back out and down the stairs. "Joe, we got to let her go." he says to the Desk Sergeant, "It's not Virgy after all." It takes close to another hour before Lysia is brought up from the cells. As she is escorted in she sees Ricardo sitting on a bench waiting for her. The Desk Sergeant hands Jez a plastic bag, "This is what you had on you when you came in, check it and sign the form." Everything, including your winnings, appears to be there. Eris AKU GM

Ricardo looks her over for any sign of maltreatment. "How you doing?" he asks her quietly. Once outside the station, he says "Back to the ship." He leans out and waves "TAXI!" Ricardo turns back to Jez and says, "It appears I was right, there is a blacker sheep in your family. According to the detective, who is sorely disappointed that he didn't make the biggest bust of his career, this Maria Virgy person is probably a close relative. " He pauses.
